PSMan62: You are better off downgrading to 1.5 and then installing 3.02OE-B as it is a higher firmware version then 2.81 and it gives you so many more options, e.g. running you ps1 games.

i don't really use homebrew, except 4 my gba games and the occasional program
and if i update to 3.03, would i be able 2 d/l the official ps1 roms (the ones that ppl hacked and/or uploaded so that the general public can get to it)on my psp?
No. If you update to 3.0 or 3.03 you'll have to go buy a $600 PS3 (if you don't have one) so you can buy $5 PS1 games. You can't d/l official PS1 games without owning a PS3. I've read dozens of success's on this downgrade with those who DON'T have a TA-82 board. I, on the other hand have a TA-82 board in mine so i'm gritting my teeth alotQuote:

A friend of mine just bought a PSP with Firmware 2.81.
I know the downdater says 2.8 but my friend insists on asking:

I cannot say how good it feels to downgrade, so thank you to everyone who has helped. Finally, the last time my psp was 1.5 i didn't even know what homebrew was. Time to try 3.02 EB :)

This seems to be a pretty stable downgrader for 2.80 non TA-082 psp's Have a read around the forums and there is quite a big success rate, A few bricks have been reported but the deeper you read their posts the more it sounds like they have'nt followed the instructions properly, Any way a big step forward for 2.80 users, One word of caution though if you cant read instructions properly or read them to quickly this is not for you, you must read and read again one bit wrong and its a brick, Finally you must use X-Loader not E-Loader to run downgrader, all that said, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK I am going up to 3.02oe-b will post to let you know how it went
OK Just upgraded to 3.02oe-b this is awesome the power and potential this has is staggering looking forward to playing my fave psone titles on the move "now if i could only get this to cook & clean i would be single and wealthy lol" the possibilties are endless (I noticed in easy downgrader v.02 e-loader has been removed "according to readme file thats with it" that should reduce the risks of bricking even more) V0.3 is unchanged with the exeption of a much better read me file.
I am now one happy psp bunny.

Yes you must format your mem stick just back up all your stuff to your pc and then format then use the 2.80 easy downgrader from csfreakno1 and it will put all the files where they need to be automatically then reboot psp full reboot not just a soft down when it has rebooted go to photos goto x-loader 280 open it nothing will happen this is normal and you will know if xloader has worked cos when you come out you will have no sound when moving around the screen then go to your mem stick and go to downdater for 2.80 ta-079-081 and press X it will load and then press O and it will start downdate wait till its finished it will say finished power of to exit hold the power off for about 10 seconds your green light will flash and then shut down then reboot and your on 1.5 and its well considering 3.02oe-b cos it awesome (just remember you downgrade at your own risk it worked for me but its your choice)

Dudes? plz help me out! I dont dare to start xloader! after having installed the downgrader to my psp i turned it off, and then on like what it said in the instructions... but the thing is that when going to photo/xloader, one of the 2 files are CORRUPTED!!! should it be like this of should i restart the instalation of the xloader? Plz help me!!!
