Yes, when testing, I experienced also some changes in the settings file. Obviously Frodo miraculously writes to it. :)
However, in my opinion, the latest version is the best in terms of timing and sound. Really big improvement compared with the last verson! Thumbs up!
In my opinion, getting saves to work is more crucial. Imagine, you write an assembly program for the C64 on your DS, save that one to the *.d64 Disk image, transfer the image to pc and write the stuff with opencbm - tools to a real floppy disk and finally execute it on real hardware. Neat, neat, neat!
Hi Troy
You wrote, that you don't know how to use the touch screen. Here are two workarounds:
a) Use one of the Buttons as Ctrl. E.g. if L is pressed and U on the Keyboard is touched don't execute the Keyboard-Routine but do whatever you want with this shortcut.
b) or if you know how to read touches, but not, how to draw buttons, you still can work with "invisible buttons": Top left/middle/right, above Keyboard left/middle/right would give 6 Buttons which are easy to hit
And another Suggestion: To prevent pixelloss you could
1. center the screen (and lgnore the 64 pixels left/right, 8 pixels up/down)
2. adjust the cropped windows by 4 buttons/Shortcuts
Of course this solution must be switchable since some games are not really playable this way...
Anyway: Thanks for this little C64
Does the keyboard freeze and/or sound not work, periodically for anyone else?
Hi Troy! Happy Brithday!
Happy Birthday Troy !
And best wishes for you !

The only way that I can make it consistently work without losing keyboard control and sound, is to make sure it is the last program I installed on my CF(I hope that is it). This means every time I alter the CF. The only thing is Kernal.rom doesn't work for me so I can't use shortcut functions.
I'm glad I can run it now. I'm just worried that future features may be broken.
Specs
DS LITE
R4
2 Gig Sandisk Micro
Running R4 Firmware version 1.08 Beta
Running FrodoDS release on 21507
Emulator runs perfectly sound is awesome. Out of the 800+ roms I have for the C64 most of what I have tried run perfectly.
Most of the Multi-Disk roms wont run or lock up.
I am trying to get Neuromancer and Mars Saga to run
Nerumancer is 4 Files Sides 1 -4
I can get to the New game selection, start game it then goes to a black screen and does nothing. Not sure if I am not giving it enough time or what.
Same thing with Mars Saga, except it sits at the EA screen and nothing more.
I have tried changing disks on both of these to see if that helps but nothing happens.
Some one explain to me how to setup this multi-disk?
Also someone mentioned creating a snapshot. How does one go about doing this?
If you are looking for a C64 GAME rom pm me I'll have it, unless it's rare which i'd probably still have anyway.

I still can't get Montezuma's Revenge to run. But the rest run great.
I'll give that a go, thanks Troy.
Just wanted to mention an awesome game that everyone should try. It's Toy Bizarre by Activision. It's like a weird Mario Bros./Joust hybrid, and nearly perfectly emulated including sound. I fell in love with it again. It's hard to find a D64 version but it's on one of the compilation disks at arnold's ftp.
I've spent around half a day trying to get this to work and feel it's time to cry for help!!!
I'm using the FatDirectory sample in devkitpro and it works fine when patched to run on my M3 card in a DS.
However if I follow the instructions and try to get it to work on No$GBA it refuses to list the files.
So far the steps I take are
Build my application
Use padlib.exe on the .ds.gba file
Create an image of a folder with FCSR
Append the image to the .ds.gba using copy /b
Patch the result with the gui tool
The only indication I can find that I'm doing something wrong is that FCSR seems quite sensitive to big files or long filenames.
Can anyone point me in the direction of some step by step instructions or even a sample project that works?
What error do you get in no$gba ? My FCSR image creator for windows might be the culprit, i usually use davr's linux tools to build my images. There is a better windows tool in the works I saw on #dsdev .
Otherwise the step you are doing look correct, it either the image is created wrong or some other issue, add some debug output to find where its failing, does FatInitDefault() work? is it having a problem finding/opening a file?

GPF: Are you still working on frodo? also did anything come of the scalling thing or will it stay as it is now?
Oh, and thanks for enabling the masses to play some of their fav. games on the go. Nothing better than a quick go on Maze Mania or Top Duck!
Oooh it's working now (or at least with tiny test files).
I think I had a duff copy of padbin.exe from somewhere.
I have only tried a couple of multidisk games, make sure that you have the correct options enabled in your Frodo.fpr concerning 1541 Emulation on or off.
Does seem like there is some kind of bug where you have to select a d64 twice sometimes that I still need to fix.
With 1541 Emulation mode it can take forever for something to load , its about like loading on a real c64 taking 5-10 minutes.
To create a snapshot boot up the Frodo version for your computer(the original version not the pc or sc version), get to the part of the game you wish to make a snapshot of and choose save snapshot from the menu.
Currently FrodoDS only support the loading of one snapshot image called /rd/jjr.fss with the X button, so be carefull about accidently pressing it a second time while playing :)
Troy(GPF)
Yeah currently T64 are not supported, the way frodo works is it creates a temporary file and then writes the prg files to it and then loads them, currently this feature doesn't exist in the libraries or toolchain so I am attempted to work around this but so far haven't been successfull.
There are utilities that can convert T64 to D64 which for now might be the way to go.
Troy(GPF)
I do have the drive emulation turned off so i'll set it to on.
I know your busy with your new project, thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.
BTW what enviroment are you using to program in? And what GUI do you recommend for the C++ coding?
Currently messing with C++ Builder. I have the devkitpro just have not gotten around to installing it.

Hello Spinal_cord !
I use the Star Comander .
Please check this page : http://sta.c64.org/sc.html
For example you make an empty disk image .D64
if you press Shift + F1 , after you copy the t64 files to this empty image and go !!
Take a look !
Cu
I'm using 64copy for translate t64, prg, p00 formats to d64 for frodods.
Star Commander keeps crapping out under winxp :(
Ill have a look for 64copy, see if thats any good.
Thanks guys.
When I start up FrodoDS I get the Spring Coding on the top screen and this partially readable message on the bottom
'Unable to initialize media device.....e!/rd/ROM directory not found!
Yet I've done the following:
I've got the latest version of FrodoDS and I've created the folder 'rd' in the root of the microSD card. I've placed Beach Head and Dropzone in the directory. I'm using R4.
Am I missing something? Thanks.
The newest version of FrodoDS has an folder named rd right in the archive. It contains some important config files and 1541,basic, kernal, and char. You should just copy it over and get rid of the snaphots, but worry about getting it working first.
So extract all the files over to the root of your card, patch FrodoDS with your DLDI patch and it should work. Sometimes you need to select the disk twice.
some links

http://chishm.drunkencoders.com/DLDI...-win32-gui.zip
so attached newest frodods just in case.
So far the SNAPSHOTS work perfectly, however I have ran across something I dont see documented.
Multiple KEY presses.
In 1 Game "Little computer People" you have to hold down CTRL and then press different keys, like W (water) R (record) P - (phone) and so forth.
How is this accomplished on FrodoDS?

Hi Harmonis,
Frodo DS's keyboard code needs a bit of work. The CLR/HOME key for instance is not assigned correctly.
Additionally, it can't distinguish left from right-Shift and does not properly detect, if a key is held, i. e. once a key is pressed, the code only sends a short pulse, so to say.
For most applications this is not a problem though.
Hello GPF,
(excuse me for my english)
If i use 21507 version many more games are loaded if you press the right trigger. In this version the keys f1.f8 are programmed with load, list, etc. It seems me music is more faithful. You can help me to configure better the 30597 version? I have not been able to make work games with 2 or more floppies, it can be made?
Thanks and excuse for the many questions.
Hey Harmonis, better keyboard routines would be great. Troy has some old sources here:
http://gpf.dcemu.co.uk/Frodoc64.shtml
You should also do some research regarding PETSCII and the way the original Frodo author implemented the keyboard routines. Too tough for me.
Hi,
i installed the latest Frodo DS version, but when i select a d64 image, i can't open it. I always get device not present errors from the c64. can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance
Sven
Did you DLDI patch it for your device?
Select the rom twice.
