Heres what i did...

Checked inside UMD slot for TA-082 - no writing.

1) Used a newly pre-formatted 2GB Sony mem stick
2) downloaded the downdater271.all.rar from PSPhacks
3) copied MS Root to root directory of PSP (which only had two files anyway - new mem stick!)
This creates MS Root and the other directories (like Photo) in the pack.
4). Looked at photo, PSP went red....
5). ...then black.
Machine dead.

My battery power was at 58-60% and i DID leave the USB connected after copying the files....

Now machine will light green for about 10 secs, the light does out. Screen remains black throughout.

M******F****** what the freaking hell does it will crsh it self on purpose mean, my psp goes blank so i assume thats what it means, i restart it right away, and now its a FING BRICK, damnit, well, it even went red the first time i tired it, i didnt wanna buy a mod chip but there goes my next hundred bucks

I MIGHT FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR THOSE THAT HAS A BRICKED PSP!!!!!!

I tested Downgrade from 2.71 to 1.50

all worked well ..
then when i restared it the screen goes black and the power led lights Green.. (Bricked) :( ..
but then i Switched the Wirless Button (Wlan). . and then after a while it comes up a error on the psp it says : The game could not be started. . then just press Circle (O) .. and switch of the wlan switch whallaa .. works agian! With 1.5 :D..

Ouch, Tuck! I'm very sorry to hear that, man.

Looks like some people are going on a bricking spree, here....I know this downdater sounds simple enough to execute, but I just wanna advise those who listen to just wait a little more for someone to make an .exe file, before attempting this thing...I'm sure it won't be long.

Sorry for those of you who've bricked your PSPs...I know the feeling too well.

FrierTuck try puting a game in the UMD drive and hardstart ur psp

btw, now that its bricked, i can say my psp only cost me 20 bucks, so a 90 dollar chip isnt that harsh
