Porsche challenge (pal) works with slight grachic problems
Hello everyone! I have been registered as a member on this site for about 3-4 months now and haven't bothered to type in the forums until now. I have one question to ask: Does it matter what format (.iso, .img., .bin) PSX games are ripped to for best compatibility with popstation? There was someone who stated .bin was the best, and that it would remove all music problems with some PSX games. (Chrono Trigger?) I have my doubts as to whether it really matters or not.....curious as to what some others think.
I just cant seem to get my games to work what am i doing wrong.
All games ripped to .bin from original discs and all are NTSC.

Yes i finally got them working, forgot to include the keys bin file. The two games i have tested have slight graphical issues: Tomb Raider and Resident Evil DC both PAL.
Tetris Plus (NTSC) Works Full Speed, No Music Tracks
Chrono Cross freezes after confirming Razzly's name....tried it on .iso and .img :(
X-Com: UFO Defense (NTSC) - works; sometimes faster, sometimes slower. has to do with what menu is currently active. Is consistently this way. Most music and sound effects play, but not all.
Crash Bash [NTSC] Works perfectly no lag or graphical glitches.
Brave fencer musashi (U) hangs when you select new game.
Legend of Legaia (U) has a few graphical glitches and hangs when I try to battle.
I've tried Doom and Final Doom, they work and boot up but they both crash as the loading bit before the title sequence, they're both (NTSC) versions.
I relised something on Final Fantasy VIII, It freezes whenever Demi is used so.. you wont be able to win Diablo and might have problems in Laguna's Sequence II.

Jade Cocoon - works, good framerate and ingame music. Text will autoscroll, if you press X it will skip ahead.
Medal of Honor (NTSC) = Works Perfectly - - - - - There's a control scheme in Medal of Honor that works perfectly with the PSP because it only requires one analog stick, making the analog stick and the D-Pad both control movement while the face and shoulder buttons control everything else. In the Home menu, you can use the control setup that makes the analog stick act as the D-Pad. The only problem with this whole setup is that you must hold down a button ("R2" AKA the right D-Pad button) to aim, which is a bit tricky but nothing terrible.
Star ocean the 2nd story - NTCS U/C - *.bin format - Works perfect
Quick question: all the ISOs I rip or otherwise procure are massive. Like, 300-700 megs. Am I doing something wrong, or do you all just have massive memory sticks?
Also, for some reason my PS1 screeen on the emu is shifted about a centimetre down (so there is a small black bar at the top, with the bottom cut off) - usual practice?
And I stuck Dead Or Alive on my stick but after the Sony Emu screen, my PSP screen goes black and nothing happens for ages. Any advice?
Ta.
Your not doing anything wrong, most of us havew 1gb or higher memory sticks
 not sure about this one.Quote:

make sure you have the key file in the same directory as the DOA eboot. if you do it might either be your rip (try another format like .bin or .img) or the game doesn't work with the emu.Quote:

EDIT: first page list DOA as working with a special dump. not too sure what it mean by special dump.
Hogs of War (NTSC) - works fullspeed, no lag
Legend of Kartia (PAL) - Ripped to .bin using Alcohol 120% & converted to NTSC using PSX2PSP- does not work (shows black screen and kicks you to XMB after selecting START):(
Just incase anyone is playing Chrono Cross...it crshes when you get the character "Razzly" who you must have :( i tried a different save from someone else and once Razzly is in your party, it seems to crash whenever you recruit a new character.
I used my own, original copy of the game to create the EBOOT.PBP and have re-done it several times, still to no avail.
If anyone has had anything different please let me know, Thank you.
Try using different converters. Or convert the iso over to .bin (if it's .img) before converting to .PBP.
Some of these small differences have fixed some of my games that crashed.
Street Fighter EX plus Alpha : freezes @ loading game.
Another FF8 Note : Your game will crash near the end if Edea uses Blizzaga in you, try defeat her fast with 2 GF's and have Squall attack.
Tomb Raider II (NTSC) = Not Working (black screen after starting game)

All were ripped to .bin from original discs and all are NTSC.

Jet Moto 3 - works, good framerate and ingame music.
Judge Dredd - works but very lagging and pauses way too often to be playable.
Kartia The Word Of Fate - works, good framerate and ingame music also some minor gfx glitches.
Killing Zone - works, zooming into the arena is kinda laggy but combat is fine and no ingame music
King's Field 2 - works, good framerate and ingame music.
On ntsc Legend of Dragoon Disc 2 ( not sure about disc 1) The sound gets sorta messed up at times but the it has no affect on gameplay itself.
Final Doom (NTSC)----- Freezes at Loading Screen
Mortal Kombat Trilogy (NTSC)---No Music
Theme Hospital (NTSC) Works great
Einhander (NTSC) Works perfectly
My Chrono Cross crashes when I got that character in my party too!! Totally sucks, it's not just you! :(
I can confirm that both spyro 2 - ryptos rage and spyro year of the dragon will load.
But, as soon as i try to enter another world on either, the screen freezes up momentarily and the screen goes black. But i can still press home and exit the game. What gives?
hope it helps.
Cool, thanks. I have a 2gig, but most of it is taken up with other emus. Guess I'll have to ditch some NeoGeo CD games. Also, I think part of my confusion was down to my initial rip, Ridge Racer, being such a small file. 5 meg or something, but I guess that's what happens with one track and no FMV.
Hmm, strange. I guess I'll find out at some point. Ta!Quote:

Damn, I was really hoping that it was to do with how I had ripped it from my disc, well at least it is confirmed then...not working :(
ive had the game since it was released in the US, but I could never get to Disc 2 as I was using the swap method to play on my old PS1, was kinda hoping after all these years I would be able to inish it.looks like I still cant
Maybe with 3.03 OE-A it will be corrected, Sony made the original 3.03 to sort out some Popstation compatability issue's from what im lead to believe, heres hopeing
Oddworld - Abe's Exoddus Full speed and working very nicely so far.
I tried Crash Team Racing. It works perfectly apart from a couple of tiny graphical and sound glitches, but is definately playable
Also tried a patched PAL version of Tomb Raider 2 - managed to watch the opening intro and get to the menu, but it won't load anything after that.
Wasn't the update for FW 3.03 increase compatability with PS1 games? Now that we can decrypt 3.03, you think DaX could implement those changes into OE-C?
in metal gear solid how do they expect you to beat psycho mantis i would call this game partially incompatible because u cant get to the second disc because of the psycho mantis battle.
you need to lose to Psycho Mantis 3 times, on the 4th fight shot the 2 busts and he will not beable to read the controller anymore.
Destruction derby... anyone got it
pm me
Anybody know if in 3.03 have more improvement on emulator ? Becouse if had more games on ps store, maybe have more improvement on emulator too !
Thanks !
Do any of the ps1 WWF/E Games work
destruction derby 2 is a great game but sadly my rip runs extremely fast. it is unplayable because of some weird glitch that all the cars accelerate extremely fast.
destruction derby 2 - works but plays as if you are on fast forward
