I dont know if this would be the right place to ask this question, but what's your favorite?
And since there's so many Mario games, I'm only going to use the main games.
So, DCEmu, what's YOUR favorite Mario game?

Super Mario Sunshine
Mario 3 hands down
Mario Bros 3 was a phenomenal game, The best for its time and great till this day.
I really really liked sunshine for some reason.
Really enjoyed it, however I'm not a fan of mario. But that game was ace.
super mario sunshine just got me hooked. i was an addict for a couple days.
o_O I'm suprised Sunshine is winning. I heard from everyone that it sucked.
You missed Super Paper Mario.
Well I thought of the Paper Mario series to be a seperate RPG franchise.
If I included those, Id end up having to include Mario Sports games, puzzle games, Smash Bros, porno games, etc
By leaps and bounds for me is either of the first two Super Mario Land games. They had the same elements that made the NES games great, while having a wonderfully distinctive flavor to it that made it so much more. Super Mario Land was similar to Bros., and Golden coins was like the leap to Mario World. Truely they stand out as gameboy classics.
The original. After the N64 Mario lost it for me.
I enjoyed Super Mario World the most out of all of these. My next favorite being Super Mario 64
Super Mario World! simply the best in my opinion ^_^
The best on the SNES anyway (followed closely by Mario RPG), nothing can really beat Mario Bros. and Mario Bros.3 on the NES as without them Mario would have never been as popular as he was when he left the 8-bit era and entered the 16-bit era, which Mario "All Stars" re-reminded the 16-bit generation of the 8-bit success (in upgraded graphics - which made them cooler).
The 8-bit success of Mario has gone continuously for the past 23 years, since 1985, and Nintendo continue to sell Mario Bros. today (on the Virtual Console), as well as Mario World (both are significant titles). :)
Mario Bros 3 was probably the best Mario in my opinion. Just the levels and everything about it is so amazing for a NES game.
And Vampdude, Mario Sunshine's a platformer... and one of the main games in the franchise. And as you can see, it's tied but in the lead with Mario World.
But still, Paper Mario is awesome. And the only reason I didnt include it is because the poll list shouldnt be THAT long.
I never played Mario Sunshine, it's the only Mario Game that never turns up in the local game exchange.
The poll should have been "On what console is the best Mario game" which I'm going to create, cause all the Mario games should be there (although there are too many). :)
Super Mario World
Sunshine is OK at the beginning but it gets boring fairly quickly.
In my opinion
Mario 3
Mario World
Mario 2 (Doki Doki Panic version)
Mario 1
Mario Land 2
Mario 2 Lost Levels
Mario 64
The others I'm not very acquainted with.
And I hate Yoshi's Island.
What are you people talking about!! Yoshi's Island was universally praised as a worthy successor to Super Mario World (it's Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island), sold extremely well, and when the 'Advanced' version was released it was also met with great acclaim.
You people must have never played it and are relying solely on the name, which makes it sound like a horrible horrible spinoff, but it is in fact a direct successor.
