Dark Alex Releases 4.01 M33-2 Custom Firmware & 1.50 Kernel add-on for 4.01

Dark alex has released a new version of his Custom Firmware for the PSP last update was yesterday and also the 1.50 Kernal addon for the firmware.

The 1.50 Kernel for the latest firmware has been released.

Instructions:

Copy to /PSP/GAME4XX and run.

4.01 M33-2 (bugfix update)

Changes:

- Nids resolver: Fixed scePowerGetCpuClockFrequency issue. This is the same bug that happened in 3.80 M33-1, it won't happen again ¬¬

- Fixes recovery problems that have apperared in prior version (incorrect position of back string in language others than english, enable, and disabled strings not translated in plugins, hide pic0+pic1 couldn't be changed, language file in flash1 wasn't working..

- Spanish recovery translation typos fixed.

I have a PSP fat with fw 4.01 m33-2. When I try to run the 1.50 kernel add-on it says "incorrect or inexistant 150.pbp at root"??? What am I missing? Please help.............Nevermind, i figured it out all by myself, like a big boy. Solution: I did not have the 150.pbp in the root of my memory stick. I googled it, then downloaded, put the EBOOT.PBP into the root of my memorystick, changed the EBOOT file name to 150. So now it is 150.PBP. Then I loaded up the 1.50 kernal add-on with no problem.

well, im a lurker and dont really post on the site, but i have one question.

my memory card is a fake 2gb sony. im on 3.71.m33-4. my card works on that. a while back when 3.80m33 came out, i installed it and my memory card didnt work. meaning nothing worked until i took the memory card out. i went back to 3.71 using a pandora i painstakingly got because i had to ask around for a psp. ive been confused if this problem has been fixed. has it?

irshell doesn't work for me

I used the 3.90 m33 patch and the psp doesn't load

anybody find a way to get irshell to work??

There's nothing there...

Apparently iRShell works for phat's but not slim's

If you install the pgf file or whatever in the flash0 kd folder the PSP won't load properly

You can't use the 1.5 addon with a slim. Other than that... all things that worked on your slim will still work (except perhaps programs that customize the XMB, but a new CXMB is already out for that :D )

Can someone tell me what to rename the GAME380 folder to?

I keep seeing rename the GAME3XX to GAME4XX but 4XX can mean ANYTHING

I have 4.01 M33-2

I've tried renaming to GAME400 and GAME401 but still CANNOT get the homebrew in that directory to show in my GAME menu

anyone wanna answer my question?

Rename "GAME380" to "GAME4XX". Actually type out the Xs as letters instead of numbers. Dark AleX did it that way so that you wouldn't need to rename it after each update, he said this in the readme if you even bothered to read it.

I get this error when i try to run it into the proper dir/psp/gamexx

i cant uppdate when i try to launch the program it just ses the´game cou´ld not be started (80020148)

anyone know how to use this via UPMS Project 3v3 I know v4 is avilable but I dont like that 1 as much and my idstorage and nand isnt mine so upgrading firmware the normal way don't really work so any help would be nice

The guy is a genius. He's doing a lot, giving us a lot of entertainment, and he's not really making a lot of profit of of it. I, for one, have donated a few bucks every time I use one of his custom firmwares, and if you all enjoy his work, then you should consider the same. I know that the capabilities far outweigh some of the shitty games I've bought for more than 20 bucks, so a donation of like 3 dollars isn't fair, but it helps. And for anyone that's ever coded their own progs or just scripts, you know how much of a pain in the ass it is. So, again... help the man buy some coffee so he can do his work. Muchas Gracias DaX, siempre.

internet radio does not work anymore

I gave up holding out and decided to update. I am trying to run this via 3.40 OE-A and it is hanging at:

I have downloaded the update from multiple sites, downloaded the 401.pbp directly from Sony's website and formatted my authentic 1GB memory card through the PSP AND from the PC. Nothing is working properly. Am I missing something? :)

Note: I AM trying to update to 4.01 M33 first. I haven't been able to get that installed to even attempt the M33-2 yet.

You should probably go to something like the previous M33 firmwares first and not from OE.

EDIT - I had major problems with 3.52 M33-4. It wouldn't let me do anything so I had to recover back to 1.5, upgrade to 3.40 OE-A, upgrade to 3.52 M33 then v3 specifically before finally being able to get to 4.01 and 4.01 v2. It was a pain but it worked! :)

I recommend to anyone that is going from an OE-A to the latest M33 NOT go to 3.52 M33-4... only go to 3.52 M33-3 and work from there. The v4 of 3.52 is a royal pain. :)

So..... damn..... tempting...... to..... update.

But like I said, I'll do it after I come back from vacation.

I found it in had to be in the game Folder and root/

It works great now.
I also had problem with the 1.50 addon.

It worked when I moved to the right folder.
So now I have a prefect 4.01 psp
