Right now my PSP says:
System Software - 5.00 M33-3
I want it to say
System Software - 9.99
or anything else that I can type.
Is there a homebrew app that lets me change what that says, without changing anything important?
If there is something I can change in the flash memory I know how, I just need to know what.
Whats the point o_O, you'll screw it up anyway.
Having the firmware at 9.99 doesn't make you any better at anything.
You can access flash0 via recovery mode.

Haha, there have been many apps but I've never used any of them.
You can try looking around on the net to see if you find anything, or you can probably look around in the Flash0 and you'll probably find the file that it's kept in.
I've looked everywhere in Flash0, but I'm not really a hacker or anything...
I've looked on the internet but the closest I've found is WABVersionChanger, and it's not what I want...
On second thought, you may not want to do this.
It might interfere with Dax's network update as it would read that you had a higher firmware and and no need to update.
I don't use network update, and I would always change it back to normal before doing anything important, and I could always reinstall the firmware because I have 2 PSPs with 5.00 m33.
I promise I will be ok if something happens to my PSP.
If you know how to do anything like this, tell me please.
backup your flash &try combining 2 apps
1: STRING SEARCH all the files on flash0 , (or maybe flash1) for "5.00 m33"
2: HEXEDIT the file(s).
I don't know how to do it on 5.00, they changed everything around from previous firmwares.
It used to be really easy but now everything is encrypted weird.
ive remember ive used a plugin to change the system software information and the mac address in your psp, just was done in the last 3.33 M33 april fools joke, its called
M33xEver.prx, i dont know if it still work in 5.00M33-3 as i havent tried it lately

This is a new program someone showed me about that does this easily.
The program doesn't just 'fake' change your System Version.. You can choose what your IP Address says too! :D
