Hmm That PSone Emulator News
Im sure that many of you who visit other sites in the PSP scene will have no doubt heard or seen the supposed screens of the menu of Sonys Unreleased PSone emulator for the PSP which for those of you who dont know will cost you cash per game and certainly wont be free.
The Price of the games in news articles ive seen points to a $15 dollar but i would say thats a high price or only for the very top of the range PSone games, i would think that a maximum of $10 is much more likely.
As for the emulator itself i reckon they will use a process like Bleemcast did and that is optimize each game for use on the PSP, making full use of the widescreen. How they are going to get around the controls is going to be interesting although its quite conceivable that they could bring out a mini PS2 controller that plugs into the USB port on top of the PSP.
The games if downloadble will use some type of DRM to stop piracy and most likely the emulator will be well hidden away.
Remember that anything you read on sites is pure speculation until Sony divulge details themselves, sure its nice to see screens but if they are indeed fakes then it does rather let you in for a backlash from the members of the PSP scene.
Lets see where the PSP emu from Sony goes. What we really need is a Bleemcast for PSP ;)
I can see where your comeing from.
But the point im makeing is,
Who has ever wanted to pay for emulation,
look at all the failed attempts for the corprate community to garner money from emulation,
*cough, Gametap.
And the revolution with its emulation plan. Sure people accept it and look foward to it, And why? Because it wont be long before somone figures out how to blow the doors clean off the revolutions firmware and make it free to the point of simply downloading the emulation from another site for free.
People just dont want to pay for somthing they can get for free.
Oh I can planely see why they would be interested in emulation.
Its very popular and potentialy could make a lot of money.
But as long as people can get it for free, no one anywhere is going to pay for it.
Not to mention when sony does release this emulator, It wont be long before the hacked version hits the net for free,
And need I to say, That dcemu has a standing about warez as a whole,
We dont like it here.
But each of us individualy, would seek out this hacked version and play it own our own.
Thats all im getting to. You see,I see your point bro, I really do,
And as much as I respect the corprate scene in the whole, Thay have brought me much comercial joy in videogame form,
But at the same time, The pay to play corprate emulation scen, in all its glory, Is still a torjen horse aimed attack on the homebrew comunity, and people dont see that :(
*I dont mean to ramble on and on, But lets examine some of the apeal of emulation to begin with.
Part of what makes emulation so good, is that its free to begin with,
Can you see anyone seeking out a multitude of the emulated games they play, if that had to pay for them?
Sure people would still pay for and play there favs,
But in the whole. Emulation wouldnt have nearly the apeal to people it does, if people had to pay for it.
A count down of my emulation.
lets just say pay to play emulation was widely accepted just for a moment.
If I had to pay even just five dollars a pop for every rom I had
The totaly price I would have to pay would be completly insane.
Even at just five dollars a pop.
However I do take great comfort in the fact that most of the roms I play are either games I own, owned once upon a time. Or couldnt find because they where never released in this country :p
Yeah that sounds a little far fetched I suppose. But you have to take into concideration, That ive been a collector of videogames ever since before I knew the definition of the word collector.
As far back as I can remember, And I can remember to somwhere around the age of 3. Even then. At that time video games had always been somthing I loved, So my memory just doesnt go back far enough to allow me to say ecactly how long Ive followed this hobby :o
Hmm I never really thought of it like that
I guess you have a point there bro.
I mean Final fantasy mystic quest was supposed to be for ff noobs but then that game is pretty old now and probibly doesnt interest a lot of newer gamers.
But yeah, Ive been a ff vet for so long, That somtimes I forget that it would be pretty hard for somone new to final fantasy to just pick up say ff 7 or ff 8 and know what there doing.
I guess every so often to generate new fans As long standing as final fantasy is, Its a good idea to have a few mystic quests and ff 9's in there :p
Good call bro
