Beta Version

This is a beta version of PSP Druglord. There are still some issues, regarding screen refresh
amoungst other things, that I will have sorted out before the official release. Please send feedback to [email protected]

Instructions

The aim of this game is to get rich and stay alive.
You must buy drugs when the price is right and sell them when the demand is high. Your rank will determine how many days you can stay in buisness and how much product you can store at any given time. Your rank improves as your finannces do.

Money Lenders
You can temporarily ease your cash flow problems by visiting one of the four money lenders, but make sure you pay them back on time or else .....

Life On the Street Can be Tough You must have around $50 dollars a day to survive on, otherwise you will end up having to sleep rough and this will take a toll on your health

Fight for the Right To Deal
There are several groups of individuals who would rather you didn't peddle your wares and they will stop at nothing to see that you don't. It is wise to go shopping for some self protection.

No Health Care Plan
If you do come off worse for wear after from an encounter you can visit the hospital and get yourself patched up, that is of course if you can afford it...

Controls

Use the Left and Right Shoulder Buttons to 'Tab' around the screen X will 'Click' the highlighted widget

Where lists are displayed the left or right arrow key will select the appropriate list Pressing X on a list will execute the list action (eg. if the market list is selected X will fire the buy option). Some buttons will have a button marker on them, these can be clicked by pressing the appropriate button, regardless of what widget has focus.

Entering Numerical Values

The 'Integer Spinner' is used to enter numerical values. Use the up and down arrow buttons to select the spin value,the right and left arrow keys add and remove the spin value from the value you are entering
eg.: to enter value 45
Use the Up Arrow to select 4, then press Left Arrow to add it - value 4
Use the Up Arrow to select 5, then press Left Arrow to add it - value 45

EDIT i have no idea how to play this,, i just get text, and i can buy ammo(or something) and it says how many rumors there are

iv been playin this game now 4 about 30 min and its great:eek: i was very surprised cause the game is very basic...........if you add some new features like actually walking your drug lord that be alsome or wen you get into a shoot out wit da cop you put a quick window and you do the shooting or wen you sell drugs you see the transactions just thought but that would be great

Thanks for the feedback folks. This was my first shot at coding anything in Lua. I am planning to sort out a few bits and pieces with it in it's current form before I start adding actual graphical play. But it is something that I am looking into...

I had the same problem too. Background was black and I didn't see that interface at all. I used luaplayer 0.16 btw. So now I'm confused, are those pics from the original game, or is it what I'm suposed to be seying? :S

The screen shots that were posted are what you should be seeing. I have seen a few reports of a black screen. I think it might be a screen refresh problem. Can you click the left or right shoulder buttons and see if the screen refreshes ? I have tested it on PSP 2.01 Lua 0.16. Maybe there are problems with the different firmware versions ?

"L" and "R" do absolutly nothing over here. Its starts off with the text "yesterday's rumors 0" on th etop left hand of the screen. I can click random buttons and hear a cash register sound once in a while. That's about all I get. :S

Firmware 1.5 btw.

The text "yesterday's rumors 0" is debug information. Am I new to Lua coding so I made a few assumptions and they may have been incorrect. While coding i used the print command to provide me with debug information. So when I was coding using the windows Lua player this text would appear in the dos box that spawned the luaplayer. I wonder is this text blanking the screen. Give me a couple of minutes and I'll PM you an updated version with the prints taken out and see if that cures the problem.

i am having the same problem as xteticx. "yesterdays rumors 0". i am also on fw 1.5 using lua player .16. hope you can fix it.

Might as well just post it here.

I have taken the debug messages out of the code, hopefully this will solve the 'Black Screen' issue being reported by users on firmware 1.5. Let me know if this does the trick.

Yup that did the trick. This game makes sence now lol. Looks pretty complex, props man!

i had the same problem with the black screen. i downloaded luaplayer 0.18 and seems to work fine after that. although still getting bugs like selling the wrong drugs and the drugs still appearing even though i have no units left, and losing some of my available units when this happens:confused:

Hi Folks,

I am aware of these problems and have already fixed some of them. I hope to release an update in the not too distant future...

Also on the list are
1) Speed enhancements (on certain screen refreshes)
2) GUI updates
3) Changes to the ranking system
4) Changes to handling of numeric values
5) More sounds
6) High Score Table

I was thinking of trying to put together some sort of high score recording system. So people could post verifiable high scores. I can generate control codes etc.. but because it's written in Lua, it is easy for people to see how the codes are generated and fudge them.... If anybody has ideas how to achieve this let me know.

ive been waiting a few months for the update......

Sorry Guys, it's been on the back burner for a while. I have actually updated the game but I haven't worked on it for a couple of months now. I'll start re-testing the changes I've made and post an update soon......

In the mean time if there are any suggestions let me know and I'll look at including them...
