Idea for downgrader: Modify Trojan.PSPBrick

I just brainstormed an idea just now. I learned a little bit about how the Trojan.PSPBrick works... http://securityresponse.symantec.com....pspbrick.html

I already know that the TIFF exploit has been patched for all firmwares v2.01 and above, and I may be wrong in this, but I think I remember reading on some forums that people using v2.01+ bricked their PSPs with this trojan, so what we need to do is modify the virus so that it doesn't only delete all of the startup system files but also replaces them with older firmware versioned ones. This came up out of the top of my head... please reply :o

as many of us has always said once 2.1 fireware is cracked then a downgrader can be possible

since it has been cracked by the great fangita and his e-loader program

i believe that a downgrader can actually be achieved but its gonna be hard and its gonna take a geneus to accomplish a downgrader but i beleive it is possible i have faith in it

anything is possible

i don't think fanjita will make a 2.1+ downgrader because more people will use ISO loaders and fanjita is against piracy

Okay...I suppose if you are very uncaring for your PSP, then have fun. Seriously, I wouldn't even bother with this. It would be nice, but you'd probabbly just brick your PSP.

Come on let's focus here, I first need to know if it is even possible. For example, I want to know if the PSP brick trojan works in bricking a v2.1 or above psp. if it does, then we can see what we can do next. i'm just speculating here....

I don't think anybody is crazy enough to test a psp bricker program for fun on their 2.1+ psp.

what if some body wit a mod chip tries they culd reflash it back up if it works?:cool:

Guinea pigs are NOT THE answer!!! We must look for previous accounts of the virus bricking v2.01+ psps, not people going ahead and testing them out on their own.

hmm i dont think its possible because there is no access to the flash

itll be easier when the modchip gets cheap

@Topic creator: I don't know where you read this, but it was wrong. The bricker trojan does not work on 2.01 or above.

I said I wasn't sure. And as we can see that not only Kernel mode has been unlocked and Dark Alex has released an "untested downgrader (bricker)" which hopefully will be working later on, this topic is really useless. Close 'er down...
