Via Gamasutra, an interview in USA Today with Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime confirms that the Wii's online component will be free to play. The outspoken Nintendo advocate says
"We will offer online-enabled games that the consumers will not have to pay a subscription fee for. They'll be able to enjoy that right out of the box. The Wii console is going to be Wi-Fi enabled, so essentially, you'll be able to plug it in and go. It won't have hidden fees or costs."
now if only they killed the friend codes.....
im am surely gettin a Wii at launch instead of ps3:p

I love nintendo to death now! free online play!! Now lets us all say goodbye to the xbox, xbox 360, and the PS3 cuz the Will is blowin em out the water!!!
The Wii will be better for fun games, but either the PS3 or XBox 360 is going to be the winner for graphics and raw power. :)

I don't think graphics make a game better, it just paves the way for more games to be made. If Nintendo hadn't made another system after the NES, we would have really bad games today. Now if you can make a system that doesn't offer better graphics but does offer more innovation, that would be another way of moving forward.

there is absolutely nothing wrong with friend codes, infact its an advancement if anything lol

yea headset should be released not long after launch. It is personal speculation that this will be incorporated into opera. Opera web browser for PC has voice support (if i say Opera Back it will go back a page) and we know that Wii is going to have some kind of voice to text program, so why not put it in opera?
