I was noticing a noise when I turned around my PSP, and I found out what it was. A screw that holds down the UMD drive came out. It's on the UMD spinner "thingy" because it's magnetic. I hope it will still work. There aren't supposed to be on the UMD "spinner thingy" normally, right?

Nope they definetly aint suppose to be there.
if you have one of them magnetic screwdrivers use that to pull the screw out.
Ok, I was just afraid that the screw came out of the spinner and that it would come out while playing a UMD.

Weird what firmware did it come with?

It came with 1.52, so they kept it in stock for like a year. :o
I took it out with my sisters pliers.
It doesn't matter that much though. I only used the UMD drive for GTA, but now I'm going to start using isos. (Legal of course. ;))

Well, at least it looks like no real harm was done...Come to think of it, since I've been playing my UMD's more than ever nowadays, my UMD drive door feels kinda wiggly...I might just have to tighten up some screws soon myself.

Your very lucky that coulda screw your psp up bad! I suggest you use isos now because i dont think it would be a good idea to use the umd drive much. Isos load faster anyway i use my LEGAL isos all the time.
Me too. I hate having my PSP startup a game when I just want to play homebrew... :(

But I am curious why there was a random screw in your PSP. ^^; On someone else's advice earlier, I would suggest AGAINST using a magnetized screwdriver for anyone else who has this problem. Always avoid bringing magnets near things like this. Period.

ive noticed that the umd drives on the psp are kinda flimsy.
It's not the flippy part of the drive. It's what holds it down to the motherboard...
Oh well, I don't use it anymore anyways... ;)
Dude you should get custom firmware so you never have to worry about bricking your psp. I wrote a guide in the cheats and guides forum, you should take a look ;)Quote:
