Custom font on firmware 2.81+

Hi all

I have found a way to get a custom font onto a 2.81 psp.

First of all is you have to have a 2.70 - 2.80 psp

You must first install the tiff font hack run it and istall your custom font. See my guide - http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=36130

The once you have done that update your psp to 2.81 and once updated your custom font should remain the same as it was on 2.70 - 2.80

and there you have it

this should work even as you update to 3.00 when it comes out.

But once you have updated to 2.81 DO NOT PULL YOUR MEMORY CARD OUT WHILE THE PSP IS SWITCHED ON OR YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR CUSTOM FONT!!!!!!!

Yeh i seen that a while ago coz my mate has 2.80 and was pissed of he couldnt downgrade so he sniffed out all avaiable expoilts of 2.8+

Well, that would cause internet browser to not work wouldn't it??

MMmmm nice to see any small exploit on new fw's it always starts with a small step.Would be nice to see if anything else can develop from this.

Hehe, no way man. If I still have 2.70/2.71, there's no way somebody would update to 2.8+, unless they Vice City Stories or some new awesome game requires it. ;)

Would this be possible for other changes made in earlier firmwares like gameboot changes?

Dude it still wouldnt make me update would wait till its devhooked..

That is very lame, noone would update just for that, sorry, I know thi scould lead to some great stuff, but for now, this as lame as possible.

Umm, this has been around for a while. It is just the registries not editing. Since there was only a small security patch the registries didnt have any big edit. If a new firmware with new things comes out the registries will be different and this will be erased. Also, why update to 2.81 for a custom font when you have have homebrew and custom font on 2.8???

I have found that the windows font Monkey works even in the web broswer. all the letters show up as capitol letters, but you can still see everything

so could this work with the gameboot.pmf?
Anyway its a start, this is how it was when 2.00 came out and now we can do whatever we want (but not as well as 1.5)

That's stupid! Why would you update to 2.81 just to have custom fonts on 2.81?? You can have custom fonts and HOMEBREW on 2.71 and lower. That a hell of a lot better! I hope only people with modchips try this. Anyone else is a retard.

no this wonk work with a gameboot, as the update completely reflashes flash0 (where the gameboot/opening sound/etc is stored)
the font hack requires you to modify the registry on flash1 and as this is a minor update, flash1 gets left as it is, thus allowing you to have custom font/jap button assign/flash or wma emabled without wifi

I had custom fonts installed on my 2.8 but i got rid of them cuz i couldnt write on the internet brower. It just showed up 1 big grey line.

i put a font on my 2.6 and now its all messed up, how do i change the font back to normal and what fonts work good with this hack on a 2.6??? THANKS!
