Custom firmware 2.71 SE-B is a good start. Getting 2.82 with homebrew support takes time to accomplish. Dark_Alex could possibly be working on that right now but there's no knowing what next on what will happen until he makes an annoucement on the subject.
Dark Alex this should be your next move 2.71 SE-C or D with support for 2.82 umds
We would need a kernel exploit on 2.82 first I think.

things to remember;
hen would have to be ported to work on 2.8+ 1st (impossible to installed on regular 2.8+ cause of no kernal access so it would be difficult without mod chiped psp (sure dax probably has them but who knows))
if 2.8+ takes up much more room than 2.71 there would be no room on flash for bootstrap

Booster hasn't been heard from lately. It probably because he's still in hiding from Sony when they sent him that Cease and Desist Order when he run into that problem with a reboot.bin file from one of the firmwares he was working on.

well maybe he just need more time as 2.71 and 2.81 has alot of difference
even though dark_alex doesnt work on 2.82se we could still get it through 2.71se by launching 1.5 eboots as the likes of dev Guimod.
Or maybe since 2.71se is a hybrid firmware maybe he cud just take sum files from 2.82 and just dumped it to 2.71se so it can play new umds:) i think thats enough I dun care about sony features we got homebrews

we did have some contact off him saying he was working on devhook 2.80 but that was in august he's probably finishing the next devhook but can't find a proper place to host it
To tell you the truth, the reason dev hook is not going to be released with 2.82 support yet. Is because Dark Alex and Booster have only one thing in mind and that is 3.0. Why go and make a 2.82 dev hook when Sony would be all over them again, when they can go for the 3.0 in a month. They don't want to release anything until then because Sony would just put another dam security update in 3.0. Trust me they want to keep the weaknesses in 2.82 very alive in 3.0. But I wouldn’t worry about it, we probably will all have 3.0 support be it dev hook or custom firmware in two months tops.
i can answer a little of this becuase the new firmware has a sequirity addition but i have the file decrypted but i dont know who made it so please if you want the files that the psp is made of ask me on uhh either xfire or skype xela56 xfire and xela566 on skype.

No... Just because devhook runs it doesn't mean there is an exploit. Remember 2.71 was running on devhook before there was an exploit, AFAIK.

I hope they are waiting for 3.00, i would rather wait for the ps1 emu than have exploits patched in 3.00. Plus, with all the other added features, there's BOUND to be an exploit in there somewhere!
