It has all the strenghts and none of the weaknesses of 1.50. And it's getting better with every update. You can downgrade everytime to 1.50 (Really Senseless). If anyone asks wich is the best Firmware, send him to this Thread. Now with the new Popstation cracked to play nearly any PSX-Game compressed and fullspeed i feel like in Heaven. Dark Alex is definately the King of the PSP Homebrew scene. Muchas Gracias.... For now, i can't imagine how to make this beautiful Firmware any better, but i'm shure it will get better... Anyway. theres really isnt a point in this but well

advantage 3.02oe over plain 1.5 is play PSX games(from PS3 or POSTATION) and no need for devhook along with recovery mode

disadvantage only 1 so far which is slow boot up(no irshell its a pity but who cares i like xmb better)

well.. my BIG question is can i play gpSP and CPS2 and those cool emus on 3.02 OE-B?

i havent read a line that says those cool emus does work as good as they do on the 1.5..

i wont upgrade until i can know for sure i will be able to continue to play neo geo, gba and those emus at full speed, anyone who knows?

Upgrade and upgraed now. Take it from me ALL emulators and homebrew that work on 1.5, work just as good on 3.02OE and in the case of PS1 emulation, even better.

This thread is pointless, whether it is true or not it doesn't offer any HARD evidence for a noob or any member of this site to upgrade. Now had the OP taken the time to write an organized list of the Pros and Cons of each firmware, keeping his opinion out of it (by this I mean, maintaining an open, unbiased mind) would this thread in fact serve any purpose.

there is one problem i have found with custom firmwares.... that being some random games have hardcoded pathnames that dont work do to the new folder you hav e to put the games in... although this doesnt really matter.... or am i just wrong about this too?

You could be right about this. I havent tried all of my emulators yet but Castaway (the atari st emu) uses a hardcoded pathname to place all of the games into! ...I hope this emu still works on this new firmware??

Well I'm a 'noob' or whatever and this thread has proven useful. 3.02 OE-B sounds the best and was just about to upgrade from a 'virgin' 1.50 but now I hear the Castaway emu might not run - maybe a problem with others too? So I'll hold back a bit even though I want PSone games on my PSP!

I fixed the problem and Castaway does run on 3.02 0E-B (it even hides the corrupt data icon that was on my 1.5 for the 'atari_st' folder'). :D

All I did was select 'hide corrupt icons' and set kernel mode to 1.5 in the recovery mode menu, then I just placed the Castaway 1.0 single eboot into the 'atari_st' folder and moved that into the 'game' folder (not game150) and everything works fine! :thumbup:

From what ive tried everything has 1.5 100% compatibility!

i did update.. i havent tried any of my old emus yet, (snes, CPS2, GBA etc)

but the ability to play ps1 games are worth even if i couldnt play my old emus :P (almost)

crash bandicoot 3 just looks amazing on the psp screen btw!!

I believe you guys are having this problem because you put your eboots in the "game150" folder. Just put them in the "game" folder and change the kernel mode to 1.5 in the recovery menu and they should all work.

I have always said that 1.5 is the best firmware ever, because it is the original.

You may be saying 3.02 is better but in my opinion... 1.5 is the best firmware.

Definintely psx-emulator is the big draw to 3.02oe, at least for me, as well as the high firmware for playing newer games.

It is quite safe to upgrade, just make sure you follow the directions and you won't run into any problems. However, you might as well wait for 3.03 OE since it is coming out tommorow.

I've been wondering for a while now, What is a Semi-Brick? Is it just a normal brick but because of the recovery option, it's not a full blown brick? Is it the same concept as a 1.5 brick except for the fact that you can "recover" from it?

I think that recovery boots up before the firmware so that if you screw up the flash and the firmware can't boot up, you still have recovery to run and eboot to fix your flash and usb to put the eboot on there if it isn't already.

You'll have to excuse my noobishness, I just installed 3.03 OE-A and I'm a bit new. I was on 1.50 and I'm trying to run some homebrew, however, everytime I try to run the homebrew it refuses to run and tells me that the game cannot be started with an error code, much like the homebrew blockage of other types, did I miss a step?

Well theres one thing i can say, we cant make that choice for you, we can help you decide but if you want to stay at 1.50 then stay, you have a reason to and you dont need further convincing if your happy with you're 1.50 then stay if your not really seeking something of more value

I've got 3 no-umd loaders, Puzzle Bobble, Star Soldier, and Wipeout Pure, Japanese, Japanese, and European respectively. None of them work. I'm wondering if it's a region issue (that I didn't have with 1.5) or is it something else that someone else might've encountered. Also, Snes9x TYL .4 gives me some weird problems. It gives me a memory card error when it boots up, claiming the memory card is corrupt, but after hitting the parent directory button a few times, it backs out to the root, and I can then manually enter the roms folder. However, I've noticed a few roms load, but then fail when attempted to load new data (not sure if it's a problem with the rom or the emu). Anyone else had similar problems or have any ideas?

Edit (after installing 3.03): So I never noticed the spiffy little setting in the recovery to turn no-umd on and off >_>

also snes emu works fine now, all's well that ends well, I suppose...
