Some info was posted on PS2dev about a possible port of Linux to the PSP. It isn't complete yet, but it has got a lot of people talking, not to mention some crazy looking hardware involved :).

looks like a Psp Homemade Explosive
LMFAO @ Gene ^^^
ooh he has flurry for his screensaver ;)
Weird way to load linux!
Edit: is that a Mac I see in the background
you're wrong it is not for loading linux this hardware but to have a console where linux displays its messages when booting and running : that is on pc via a serial protocol (that is using the uart of head phone remote of psp).
What you see on psp screen is not messages from linux but from eboot which boots linux.
This kinda reminds me of something I saw way back when I was still finding material to convince myself to buy a PSP: http://psphacks.blogspot.com/2005/04...ontrol-10.html
Controlling your entire house via a PSP and...well...some fancy gear I've never seen before.
Are you sure this guy is not from Iraq.
Looks very complicated.
sweet
maby i can get windows to run in a window when he releases it :p
Must be only for debugging, no drivers exists for the psp screen to work so he has to output them through the psp' serial port.
I don't think i'd go through all those processes just to get linux to work on my PSP it seems to complicated
No. I think that bit of hardware is just used to understand exactly what is happening during boot up. Different codes are displayed depending upon whats happening with the hardware. Also certain errors might display their own codes. This is just for debugging I gather.
Well, the news of a PSP's linux are going around since forever, but I'd love to have it on my jewel :)
I'm am not going through that just to get that working but I think that's for knowing the cpu speed or something while that's running so maybe they can increase the speed of the linux to make it run at a suitable speed
umm, Bochs anyone? http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/bochspsp.shtml
We hope...
