this is sick. but dont yell at me for saying this but this is also a map viewer right? and where do u get maps. i live in new jersy and i cant find maps for it. can someone help[ me out.
very nice work!!!
Could you something say about creating your route? Is it more comfortable?
Who was creating the speach voices? ;)
Does that music play in the background the entire time?
buildit92 you download maps from google/yahoo and others with provided software. I am sure NJ is covered very well (yes you can use it as map viewer)
Bolemichel the route are still created with gmdl, so I don't know if it's more comfortable.
The voice promts were generated with TTS software. Currently there are just ~10 different prompts, covering left/right/ merge, etc. but users can expand the library to any reasonable number of prompts, by reconfiguring gmdl tool and adding the corresponding mp3 recordings.
sweet thanks alot. ive looked there but ill look again just to make sure. cause u made it so ur probley right about it.
Wow, first off, looks very nice. I have some questions, though:
1. What are the "Speed Warning"s?? What do you do to get them? Is it just increasing speed fast, or what?
2. Also, how did the POI's get on the map? Is that part of the downloaded map, part of the GPS, or do you have to add POIs in yourself?
3. And how much space do the maps take (like for one city) on your memory stick?
4. Lastly, so does the PSP GPS unit pretty much work everywhere?
Anyway, like I said it looks great (haven't downloaded it till now, but I am tempted from that). Sorry for the dumb questions.
i think i did it. i think ive download a map of my town. so ill downlaod the lastest mapthis and see if it works. oh and if u ever need anyone to beta test if u dont have anyone, and if i could ever get mapthis working, then id be happy to beta test for u.
This is great news! keep up the great work!
peace
1) You can set speed limit in configuration section. Once you exceed it you get a warning (in this video it was set to 35mph
2) you download them separately from google, yahoo, etc. with the tools provided
3)This depends on the level of detail you desire - a good city can take from 30 to 700Mb
4)yes, unless you live next to some secret base where they jam gps signals ;-)
Thanks for the answers. 30-700MB...yikes. I hope the average is closer to the 30 than the 700...
hey listen, ur mail box is full so im going to ask it here. are there anyother sites where i can downlaod v4 of mapthis. i would download here but it always has currpted links.
I cant wait...
I have been waiting on this feature...
This will be an great addition to my show truck...
Woah! mapthis is great. Sadly I can't use it..or at least I don't know how XD
I don't have any GPS receiver,I guess this will suck without one, right?
i cant seem to get this to work with ver 3.5 of my psp. any suggestions?? what am i doing wrong? i cant downgrade.
Umm.... am I the only one that thinks it seems like a video game? I mean, the "Speed Warning" and "Bear Right" and the music... it has the presentation of a cool video game. (though unfortunately the music is not part of the program :))
I wish so badly that I could use this, as it'll make navigating New York City more fun somehow, but I don't have a GPS receiver...
Do the voice prompts only work with the official PSP GPS receiver? Or do they also work with Holux receivers? I might have to remodify my cable with the stereo jack if it works with Holux receivers as well.
deniska, looking great! I have two requests if possible though.
1) Be able to change the speed warning limit on the fly.
2) Be able to put the POI's in on the fly, but, set icons for them. So say, I'm at maccas, and I want to put the fast food icon on my current location.
If you can do at least the first one, I'll gladly make a donation to you when my next pay comes in. (I'll still donate anyway :P MapThis! is a great program)
Very nice work!!
Is geoData for EU countries allready available?
Nice work as always. I've been using Map This! for a while and there are two things i would like to have changed.
The line that is drawn to the goal, the white line, it's hard to see, i think you should change the colour of it?
And another thing, is it possible to get topspeed instead of average? (How is the speed working, is it correct shown, very precisely in km/h?)
Thanks for this great app!
Only denmark is avaible in Europe.
For all others you have to pay a lot of money.
But check: www.openstreetmap.org
Only the coverage isn't much good at all
My first post!
First of all - thanks Deniska for this great app!! Sony should be kissing your feet right now for generating such a market for the GPS-290!
Has stability been improved in 0.5??
I'm using Sony PSP-290.
I'm running 3.30 OE-A' with map this! 0.498 and the 2.71 prx's that came with the PSP290TEST prog. (I haven't had any issues with the negative longitude bug).
Everything works great for me except for pretty regular lockups.....very likely to happen when i zoom in and out....but sometimes even just driving along it freezes.
For example if I zoomed in and out while driving like you did in that video I'd be very likely to freeze up.
What open FW do all you use? should I try using 3.03 or something?? I WANT STABILITY!!!! :(
Sorry for such a big post and the questions - I'm still a psp newb
The average speed was going down while the car is stopping at traffic ... hmm not sure about this, would'nt it be accurate if the average speed dont adds when the car stops ?
You can use TTS bundled with windows XP (Although vista is better) or your MacOS..
Or just use one of the online demos:
http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php
You'll need to use some freeware program to convert your samples to mp3 though..
I'll bundle the release with just English samples - but I'm sure people would convert them to other languages if the need to...
Thanks for the link, it works great!
My question was about the possibility to download POI-Descriptions in different languages. Will they work or are the samples connected to words like "right", "left" or something?
Will it be possible to change the Soundfiles easily like the soundfiles you can change yet? Or will they be placed in the source-files?
I can't wait until you release the new version with audio-output
Hmm i don't like the voice warnings, they come too late.
They come already on where you have to turn.
Maybe this is an option:
If I remember correctly, google directions used by gmdl tool - always come in english, although them may contain local names in local language:
"Continue on Кремлевская наб"
The tool looks for phrases like "continue" and matchesh them to corresponding mp3 file...
So you can reconfigure it to "say" "continue" in your own language...
You have to "upload" your voice prompts to PSP togather with the route.
Nice work deniska, will this release be nice and stable on 3.40 oe-a??? if so gr8!
Very impressive, I can't wait for the release , am I right in thinking the psp needs to be clocked at 333Mhz so that the mp3 playback doesn't suffer?
Really looking forward to using it :P
The increased stability is good news to hear, i mostly use Sat+hybrid maps and that can create issues since they are usually bigger than 400MB.
Do the voice prompts only work with the official PSP GPS receiver? Or do they also work with Holux receivers?
I believe it doesn't depend which kind of receiver you use.
But I wonder why I should need some TTS software. I would like to create my own language files with an Iriver H320 MP3 Player. This player has a microfone in to record you speech in mp3... so I rename the files to the original ones and change them...
I think this should work!? They must be longer than 1 sec although.
Of course this will work.
My question was about computer-generated voices, so I don't have to listen to myself ;)
If I download a map from maps.google.de, the description says "Links abbiegen auf Kaiserstraße" or something like this. So I have to download the english version I think. No problem for me ;)
