You can use 3.40 OE-A! All the features of 3.40, but you can play homebrew, and psx games, and customize the xmb, and recover it from bricks, and install plugins, and run iso--

Or you could use the Easy Upgraders by csfreakno1: It's a little easier when you're doing it for the first time because you don't have to worry whether you've put every file into the right place...

I believe you could run an OE flasher from anything with kernel access. I wouldn't take my word for it though, just speculating here :)
