I'm thinking of picking it up, but don't know if I should waste $30-50 on it.

I don't know, If I get it I may just look for the psx version instead.
If not that, I would get it for psp.
Get ff7 for the psp, iv never played any other one, and im not really into RPGs, but this one has a really intruging storyline, and no to bad of graphics for a PSX game.

ff7 is a good game.
i would suggest ff7 or one of the older ones like ff2/4 or ff3/6
FF VII is a good start. You'll have more mature graphics than on the nes/snes era and still, a good story. Then, you should get into FF 6 and 5. Those 2 sequels represent well what FF once was. Good, fun, arty. no more, no less.. Nowaday FFs are going down hill. Great FMVs, great 3d graphics but boring & stereotyped characters. Same for the story development. Too big, too cheesy. Could say the same with last 3 star wars sequels of sir G.Lucas! yuckk..

I'm gonna have to clean up some space on my memstick, looks like that the psx game would take up nearly 1.3 gb.
Anyone at all recommend the psp game instead.

Final Fantasy 7 and 8 are the best ones ever created :D
we keep giving him cotrasting opinions. if you have a ps2, then i suggest ffvii or viii(they are on ps1), or xii, the newest one. check ebay for the older ones. if it is a psp one you want then get the ffi or ii remake, or possibly hold out for ffvii cc. if you have a snes emu on your psp or pc, you should probably be a bit of a pirate and try out ffvi (ffiii in america) on that and see if you like the gameplay. this is slightly illegal obviously but it's more like a demo rather than buying a game for £20 that you hate. there.
