so this suggests the issue with skype on the psps phat was to do with the increased memory (and/or thier lack of insentive to optimize it).

If that's true, that's pretty lame. Seems SONY is trying to recycle stuff. They are repackaging the "STAMINA" battery for the older PSP and including a new battery cover for the slim. And if this headset is also just the same but packaged differently, that's a let down.Quote:

i own this headset. it IS the socom headset.
matter of fact, it's sitting on the table i'm resting my feet on right now.
it's $20 (usd) and probably around 11-13£
it sucks that its not a wireless headset

You probably don't want them to spend more money developing a new headset as that would make final product even more expensive.
Yeah, same thing, except in Aus, you had to buy a copy of Socom to get it.
If they're sold seperate over here that will be good.

Ha damn Sony are cheap barstards :rofl: . Picked up Socom with headset for like $20 new(Aus) last year `n it all still boxed :rofl:, look`s like it might come handy:D.
there are some things the psp doesnt need and to be honest skype is one of them
The PSP needs whatever will make it's manufacturer money, and to be honest, skype is one of them ;)
you do know, they have been working on wireless head phones for psp for some time...
now that skype is coming out... 3rd parties will be making wireles headsets.
i too have the socom headset, i just never really used it ( only worked for socom i think )
cant wait till this comes out :)

edit: on that note.... skype being one of the things i wanted.... but what im more interested in is 2 predicitions for the psp. 1 of them being more video support ( for formats like divx and mpeg-2 ) and the 2nd being widget support ( do i have to go into what can be done with widget suppot :D )..
i really hope those 2 predictions come ture..... thats really all we need now for psp imo :p

Why don't they just make a little mini-usb bluetooth dongle for the psp? Then you could use your cellphone headset on your psp.
