pspChess Piece Images

I'm starting this thread so that users can share their images that they have created for pspChess.

I am attaching the original chess set and a set from Ziics pieces for examples.

awesome stuff, i would love to see a star wars or harry potter chess custom board :)

What sizes do the pieces have to be?

Use the images in the first post as your template. They show you where each piece goes and with what background.

In fact I'll do an original trilogy set and a prequekl trilogy set

maybe someone could make a chrono trigger set, i think it would be pretty easy for anyone who knows what they are doin (but i dont...). Its kind of a request, so maybe someone is willing to do it. I bet a lot of people would appreciate it though, since there is such a large ct fan group. Just a thought... :) :

Those 2 are mine, but sprites are from an unknown Rpg Maker char set.

The problem with some of these sets is that it's hard to tell what peice is supposed to be what, it's the same problem with most real custom chess sets.

When I get a chance to do some later this week I'm going to try and make it easier to tell what peices they are supposed to be.

I would have no idea what is going on in a real game of chess with these peices.

Great work! Those new skins look awesome!

I whipped this one out real quick, a sorta final fantasy battle set. Also a few attempts at an advance wars chess set. Ones set on a classic black and white board, the other on a grassy plain. Keeping the nice 16bit look while at the same time making the sprites smaller was hard as hell. Might make a few of other opposing armys later.

I've just recently changed isp's so I've lost my current web space for the time being. (stupid isp cancelled and deleted everything I had within 2 hours of me calling them. Bastards didn't even give me time to back anything up either). :mad:

I will try to set up my new webspace within the next few days and upload my chess skins again.

I'll make some pieces and then upload here ^^

I made some piece sets:

template 1, to make your own pieces
template 2
Saint Seiya characters from the black knights saga (credits to Usako for the sprites)(had no knight to put as peon so I put Jabu :P)
Sonic Battle (E-100s custom colors by me)(had to choose between the characters so I left out Cream and E-105[I prefered to use the gray ones as peons])

PS: I can't use the images in the game... i've put one with the name of pieces and other with the name of pieces2, but when i go to the display options and change the image nothing seems to happen...

You also need to turn on the option "External Pieces", if you have not. I belive the order is important unless you save your options. Turn on External Pieces, then Select the Image file. I would also suggest that you just save your options after getting it set up, then the next time you load it will load your custom pieces.

when i select the file the PSP shuts down itself :P

it's the random feature that doesn't work :P
u need to select a file while the OFF or the FILE option is choosen...

hey this seems really cool, how do u do it? Explain it basicall (if at all) caus i really am a noob but wud really like to learn this stuff. :D

u need to know something about spriting...
and that's something u don't learn in one day

try searching in google for spriting tutorials and figure how is the best way to make the pieces

personally, I rip the sprites out of roms, edit some and put it inside a 33x33px square, so i know the size it need to be to fit in the pieces sheet ;)

is there a downloadable software for spriting? if so and you know one, hyperlink it plz

no, u must use you mind, hand and mouse(ou touchscreen if u have one)

i peronally use paint, yes, PAINT to make my sprites

How do get the chess game to work on my psp!!!
it keeps telling me that the data is corrupted. so i added the file into a other chess file that I created and it took out the corrupted on out put when trying to paly it it tells me the same thing!!!!!!!
