How To: Use Skype + 3.90 Features on 3.80 M33-5

Some guy known as tinman found a way to use 3.90 features on your 3.80 M33-5 PSP.

Warning:MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A PANDORA BATTERY READY. Just to be secure.

Steps:

1. Install 3.90

2. Enter service mode with a working elf menu and PRX's needed for flash access.

3. Backup flash0 from 3.90 to your PC.

4. Install 3.80-5 via DC4 M33.

5. Enter service mode.

6. Access flash0 copy everything from your 3.90 backup over 3.80 M33-5.

Tested homebrew, ISO's, skype, recovery menu, and M33 VSH menu. Many plug-ins do not work, POPS is untested. System crashes when entering the setting menu > game menu.

This works because the homebrew enabled IPL works with 3.90, well mostly.

I do not recommend this people, you are walking into uncharted territory!! Just wait for 3.90 M33, it will be released soon.

And if anyone is wondering if this will work on 3.71 M33, then the answer is NO! definitely NO, do not even attempt this on 3.71 M33 (all versions)

Yep, this will work. Although its not entirely bug free. I've never been a big fan of hybrid firmwares or these little workarounds though. I'd consider using a method like this if it would allow using the old memory stick driver on a future 3.90 M33. Unless Dark_AleX is already playing around with different workarounds.

SONY didn't fix the memory stick issues with 3.90 so its obvious they screwed with it on purpose as a slap in the face to all of the .CSO users.

I don't really think it's worth it to do this unless you're 100% bored with your psp

not just cso, take a screenshot on 3.71 m33, and take one on 3.80 m33, you will see what I mean.

im going to test this once i get home cuz im at school lol but i hope this works buz i really look forward to using skype on a hacked firmware cuz then i will have free games movies apps and now SKYPE!! this is gonna be great if it all works out thanks alot to all those people who figured out this and thanks alot for all the effort in finding out
