find out the TX voltage on the thing and what protocol/baud it uses... it might work, but first make sure that voltage is <3V (you may need a higher resistance value). overwise you'll fry the serial port on PSP

the gps 12 puts out 5v and i have a 1K Ohm- 1/2 watt resistor on the tx line. what resistance might you suggest deniska?
and by protocol/baud- what does that mean im not sure what the baud is..?

I do not think it will work.

GPS12 puts out RS232 level while PSP accepts only TTL.
A simple resistor will not do.
    You need a RS232>TTL converter.

Oh....ok i see, where do you think i could get one or maybe how to construct a cable and parts to make a RS232>TTL converter?

There were information making such with the phat but I have not seen any for the slim. But basic theory and construction is the same so you could search for such information for the phat.

But frankly I would just get a holux or PSP GPS as the ultimate cost (and time) of your converter will not be that much different.
