Sounds like a way to either make no one download your homebrew game or to make your site more popular.
Xart has released a new beta of his game for the PSP which amusingly contains DRM, not sure why the need for it but oh well
Working BETA version of the game.
Lonpos
26th September DRM
Lonpos (alternately Lon-pos or LONPOS) is a logic puzzle game in which the player must fit a fixed number of beaded game pieces of various shapes, called pentominoes, to fill a set area such as a rectangle or pyramid. Lonpos was named after its creator.
Replace the DATA.DRM that comes with Lonpos with the newer 26th September DATA.DRM file.

Yes I know DRM may sound like a dirty word to some but the DRM in this homebrew is all about preventing someone hosting this homebrew besides me.
Youll have to download via links above, DRM in Homebrew, this could be extremely controversial

Uhh, just host the DRM file aswell, but yeah pretty ridiculous.
the biggest reason we host files is for handyness for the user, as the original file host quite regularly goes down eventually. But its the authors right to request that we don't offer the download directly ourself.
I'm curious how the DRM works, anyone know?
i post news on lotsa files we dont have on site, sometimes because of size, or maybe language or because the coder requests it, the reason most sites have a local copy is to safeguard against coders sites disapearing and all too sadly it does happen.
is drm a good or bad thing, we know in commercial games it has caused a fair amount of controversy, personally im not really bothered one way or the other, i suppsoe a good reason is to control who has the downloads.
ill be interested to know what the resonings are behind the drm. (anyway just finished watching heroes season 3 episode 2 and found out that sylar has 2 brothers and is an uncle, weird eh)
sharing is caring, DRM sucks.
oooooooooooooh heroes!!!
Which, correct me if I'm wrong, helps him manage his digital rights over the thing. The common cry of anti DRM people is 'DRM - Don't Restrict Me'. This is because so many modern DRM systems not only ensure that you don't set up a duplication system and crank out thousands of the thing, but have the side effect of being a pain in the ass. As long as it does not hinder ones ability to use the thing as usual there is nothing wrong with DRM.
If anyone is looking to buy, sell, trade games and support a developer directly at the same time, consider joining Goozex. Enjoy!
its homebrew tho!
what is the positive of using a DRM on openly available freeware?
you get to use more bandwidth and have some meaningless download stats
if this was commercial i would totally understand
