Lol,true that.Bad thing is that the psp has such great potential that isn't being realized.Instead sonys trying to slowly milk that potential for all the money it's worth and at the same time killing the system.
I mean damn, the screen is awesome as well as the hardware yet the things to utilize that awesome hardware, the software is for the most part subpar with the exception of homebrew ofcourse which is free.
Damn shame free software is literally kicking sonys ass,or maybe that's they way the future is gonna go any way and sonys ahead of the curve, lol

Unfortunatly I think sony have got there ideas about gamers very mixed up. Gamers are either little kids, or big kids... Trying to create a category of mature adult gamer... is crazy, mature adults dont play games, they use interactive features, but not games... And multimedia functions is stupid as most mature adults that like that kinda gadgety stuff will probably have a decent phone which will cover all the multimedia features psp has but better. (My O2 XDA mini is far superior to PSP in terms of playing media files (in fact it opens a huge lot more files than my psp can even with all that great homebrew), maybe umds is better but who's gonna wanna carry around big umds when u can carry micro sd cards?)

I class myself as a big kid, thus I play alot of games for multiple consoles. I have no preference as to whether games are violent, bloody, sexual, adult themed, cute, ugly, crap graphics, fps, rts, rpg, All I care about is playing an innovative, creative game. Whether this is targetted for kids or adults does not concern me so long as it achieves the goal of every game, being entertaining.

To think that there is a market out there of adult gamers who only play adult themed games is madness and shows how little sony know of their target audience. Gamers are big kids, believe me i have yet to meet a true "older" gamer that isn't a big kid, and I have played games with soo many people over the years.

Before anyone calls me DS fanboy, I only have 2xold style gameboys. I bought a DS and took it back as I couldn't justify the cost of getting it plus getting a passcard/flash cart. I never had a gc but have played a bit on one.

I have a psp, a ps2 but will not buy a ps3 until i can get a second hand one for less than £50 because I dont believe the console is worth £500, I wont be using blu-ray (main reason for high ps3 cost) as i dont have a hd tv (and dont intend to buy one anytime soon since i kinda like my projector)

Anyway, I'm waiting for microsoft's attempt at the handheld market as I know for sure that will be the way forward. (Pocket pc, windows mobile already rocks even for games, got sim city, monopoly & age of empires on my phone, all of which i have spent a lot more time playing than on me psp.)

Plus I just like black hardware.
I don't own a DS, and I'm not planning to buy it. I know, DS has great games, but I prefer Silent Hill to Resident Evil.

    I also like black hardware

Any way, I think Sony is lying out their asses when they say they aren't trying to take Nintendo on in the handheld market. They are trying to make an excuse for the fact they had to cut their shipments quite a bit, and the losses they are having with the console as well as their terrible rep right now (lik-sang, controversial ads, plain stupidity).

Peter Dille (sounds like a pornstar name) must be under the old jedi mind trick or something. Or he just gets paid a lot to tell everyone what Sony wants them to hear. I'd say its both.

So is the iPod Video, and I bet Sony says they aren't after that market either.
didnt they say they were competing against Ipod?

Sounds like sour grapes to me! Back when the fortunes of the two systems were reversed, Sony constantly pointed out that they had shipped more PSPs than Nintendo had DS units. That tune seems to have changed now that the DS is on top.

Why would they do so with a handheld gaming system (unless they are talking about one of their mp3 players, which still is behind in the market)? If they did say they were taking on the iPod, I doubt they meant with the PSP, and if they did, they are getting killed in that respect as well. That would put Sony way behind in both markets: handheld gaming and portable multimedia entertainment.

I agree. The DS is for kids. I couldn't see myself with one of those things. I would rather not have a system if my only option was a DS. When I was a teenager I liked Mario and Zelda and Nintendo but now it is just gay. I apologize to all the DS fanboys in this thread.

That guy is totally right, the DS is for kids and it's games are clearly aimed at a youth market. Sure, there's some exceptions, but not many. There's some kids games for the PSP. But the DS is a system made for 8 to 15 year olds.

gay-adjective, -er, -est, noun, adverb –adjective
    1. having or showing a merry, lively mood: gay spirits; gay music.
    2. bright or showy: gay colors; gay ornaments.
    3. given to or abounding in social or other pleasures: a gay social season.
    4. a homosexual person, esp. a male.

So are you implying that mario and link are gay, because both of them run around saving a princess
that sounds stright to me. Are you implying that something related to the ds or nintendo is bright and flashy, or are you implying that everyone that works for nintendo is gay.

I'd rather have fun and innovative gameplay than games like GTA aimed at "mature adults".

PS sorry for any grammatical errors I've had very little sleep the past few nights.

Video games are ment to be enjoyed. As long as I enjoy the games, that is to say I enjoy them, I dont really give a **** what the target audience is, and further more calling something "gay" and then claiming that you are of the mature audience is quite ironic in my opinion. That is not really a direct attack on you, but rather a warning for your own benefit in life... Calling things you don't like "gay" is pretty immature.. Much more immature than playing Mario or Zelda (which are challenging, finely programmed games, are are partially responsible for what we expect our more "mature" platformers and adventure games look like.) Dont knock fun because a few of your buddies dont think its cool.

I'd rather have fun and innovative gameplay than games like GTA aimed at "mature adults".
I would have to argue that the GTA series are quite innovative. Just because some ignorant people only seem to purchase the blood and gore games trying to be cool dosnt really mean you should knock a good game series.
