ok got the gps to work perfectly now... that did the trick, thanks again for your help. for future reference this if for all those who have a ta082 and 2.71 firmware then downgraded. thats the combination that uses causes the important 043.bin file to become corrupt and not see any usb accessories.

perhaps as a general note there should be an official tutorial sticky thread since this one is almost 60 pages long

@nikitenko91, I've never done it myself, but I think you can in GMDL.

could you write up briefly what you did? perhaps rhygin can add your step-by-step direction to his FAQ and I'll add it to the wiki.

    Yah, I didn't experience that cause I started from 3.01, upgraded to 3.03, then downgraded to 1.50, up'd to 3.10 OE-A', down'd to 3.03 OE-C.
Taspankya - How long does it take u to find satellites and fix on to them?

Does any have directions and POI problems? I created the files (_file name) and import to the map directory. So when i load the POI it doesnt show up.. im sure its within my map range.. cause i check the coornidates and when i load the directions, MapThis! crashes on me. Does anyone have any ideas?

    thanks in advance.

    @ digitalkid56

For me, on a good day, it takes me around 1- 5 mins at most.. cloudy/rainy takes 5-15 mins sometimes even more with 290..

the directions are pretty easy to follow, they are in the readme file of the USBHOSTFS fix file that was posted the other day... not too hard. its just that the chances of someone having the same situation of firmware 2.71 and MOBO ta-082 then downgrade to 1.5 isnt as common as i thought... and the idstorage corruption only seems to appear under that circumstance - rarely .. and it has an enormous affect on if the gps works or not.

it doesnt take long at all to find the sattelites... its just the stability of this mapthis software that is sometimes a problem. it freezes up often. i would say standing out side (clear view of all the sky) would find 10 satellites and fix on 5 or so... all between 3-5 mins

    Unhappy psp gps reciever

Im looking to order one of the new psp gps units from japan, the problem being is that im based in the uk. I was hoping to be able to use my white japanese psp as a sat nav but cant find any programs containing uk maps that may work with the gps unit. Does anyone have any ideas if there are any homebrew applications that would suite my problem. Im running/emulating the 3.03 firmware currently enabling me to play homebrew applications from my memory card.

any advice or help would be appreciated.

    kind regards

    jim

jimmyorange1980, i've ordered a PSP-290 myself from Japan, will arrive next week.
The software you use is Map This!
Maps for UK you download with the tool GMDL, it's a Google Maps Downloader. Works perfect, tho i only tried map view mode w/o GPS...
