It's not RAM. This is a flash partition on the same NAND not an entirely new storage space. In fact I believe one of them could fit the location free player just nicely.

You have are 100% legal when you rip your own copy of a game or whatever for PERSONAL use. ISOs are faster. And not using the UMD drive saves battery. And some people have broken UMD drives. All those people are not illegal.
