When i go to the "preview" tab, it only shows the middle square, the corner ones are gone (little red crosses).

Any suggestions on what to do ? Is GMDL somehow connected to the defaul browser on my computer ? (it has to view the map somehow? )

    Thx for any help.
It sounds like you are trying to download satellite imagery, on which Google set a very small quota.. (although it used to be much bigger than 350 tiles) I guess, you can just wait a few hours and continue download (you don't have to start from scratch)

No, I'm downloading a map view from Google. I dug up an older version of GMDL (0.4.15b) and surprisingly it works almost perfect right off the bat. The only issue is, that It doesn't seam to want to cooperate when previewing the map for download. It doesn't 'select' exactly what is in the browser view port. I'll try and figure something out. Thx

mvtt, click Preview 1x to see the area that will be downloaded (it jumps 256 pixels, 1 tile, at a time).

NoTimeThanks, that looks like a local.live.com map, try starting up GMDL again and not changing the map source, if that's still there, right click on the map (in preview 1x or 2x), choose properties - then post the URL here.

NoTimeThanks, Google introduced a terrain layer which GMDL is picking up (by mistake), thanks for noticing this.

To get around this until I fix it: change w2p.62 to w2.62 in the text box next to the Google Maps radio button (and similarly just remove the p whenever the w2.62 version changes)

    gmdl 0.5.03b
    http://www.in7ane.com/psp/gmdl.html

(fixes the Google terrain layer getting selected and a geodata bug)

City names in geodata are now no longer padded with spaces
Google Terrain added as a source (fixes the problem with the terrain layer becoming the default)
A problem with the GPSFS viewer fixed (would crash on loading under certain conditions)

    nice one, in7ane!
Did you make any progress with geoline data, according to the newly proposed format? I am having some problems with the tiger line data. Basically, they dont make much of distinction between "root" streets and all others. This leads to pretty dull maps, displayed on zoom outs:
Consider the to examples below (one has too much line data, other one has very little useful navigation info)
    http://tiger.census.gov/cgi-bin/mapp...230__Brooklyn_
    http://tiger.census.gov/cgi-bin/mapp...230__Brooklyn_

It would be nice if we could somehow figure out the root streets and mark them accordingly.
One way of doing so is analysing color dat of google map (see what streets are yellow) and then do reverse geocoding to get the street name for a given yellow line coordinate...
This is just a thought.. let me know what you think about it...

If Tiger can display only root streets in the first picture, then they must know the distinction. Perhaps you could contact them to ask how it works.
