Review: N5 Revolution DS N5DS Card SLOT-1

I have a question about the n5. I've had it for awhile and last night in multimedia for my music I set it to "musicnext;shufflepoweroff." I fell asleep and so my playlist played until the end and then "turned off" (the screen was blank and stuff but the battery light was still blinking). Now whenever I go to my music playlist on my DS it gets stuck. I can't use any control buttons or the stylus. Anyone know how to fix it?

Try reinstalling the files. Could have gotten corrupted.

Colorful Zone has now improved the N5! It now supports microSDHC (up to 4GB)

Hey, I just bought one of theese, the guys had already installed the software everything worked fine, I then decided that it be fun to delete the software and re-instal in on the card.
I now get stcuk at the loading screen.

Im using the 2gb SanDisk MicroSD that came with the N5.
Know what going on, or how I could fix it?

And why would you do this? Not the brightest thing to do. Why mess with something that was working perfectly? Contact them and ask them for files or go to http://linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/ to download.

I needed to transfer some files to school. And I lapsed and deleted everything off of it.
I'll try that link.

EDIT: I downloaded the software off of the site that you gave me and it still gets stuck in the loading screen, Did I completely screw myself over?

got the same problem? reinstalling the files doesn't work but it worked fine! i only patched it from v1.16 to v 1.18!

luckily i still got the original files so i can put them back but why does it freeze at loading?

I have an N5 Cart and i dont have any problems with my kingston 2 gb card. But.. I do have a question... anyone know where i can get the cheats file in freaking english??? All my cheats for the action replay or whatever thats built in are in another language...

How to use a Kingston microSD memory with the DSN5

I have a DSN5 that I was using with a SanDisk Transflash 256MB and it worked like a charm, because of the size contraints I decided to purchase a new memory of at least 2GB, and I found a very cheap one from Kingston, when I tried the first time it hang after boot with the word LOADING...
I reviewed everywhere and could not found any tutorial or workaround for this, then I started doing some testing myself and found a way to turn this in a usable microSD card for DSN5.
First thing I compared both cards output from fdisk "p"

From the working 256MB SanDisk card
"Disk /dev/sdd: 252 MB, 252968960 bytes
16 heads, 32 sectors/track, 965 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 512 * 512 = 262144 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x00000000

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdd1 1 965 246989+ b W95 FAT32"

and from the non-working 2GB Kingston card

"Disk /dev/sdd: 2040 MB, 2040528896 bytes
63 heads, 62 sectors/track, 1020 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 3906 * 512 = 1999872 bytes
Disk identifier: 0x0c8aac85

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/sdd4 1 1020 1992029 6 FAT16"

I tried modifying different settings and this are the steps that finally help me have this Kingston memory be able to boot my DS.
notice I'm using Ubuntu

$sudo fdisk /dev/sdd

Command (m for help): m
Command action
a toggle a bootable flag
b edit bsd disklabel
c toggle the dos compatibility flag
d delete a partition
l list known partition types
m print this menu
n add a new partition
o create a new empty DOS partition table
p print the partition table
q quit without saving changes
s create a new empty Sun disklabel
t change a partition's system id
u change display/entry units
v verify the partition table
w write table to disk and exit
x extra functionality (experts only)

choose "o" to create a new empty DOS partition table
then choose "n" add a new partition
choose primary partition number 1
exit by pressing "w" write table to disk and exit

then format the partition to DOS file system with sector size of 32
$sudo mkdosfs -s 32 /dev/sdd1

finally copy the DSN5 firmware to the microSD card and insert it to the DSN5, turn on the DS and voila! you can now copy the *.nds files to the card and you can load the games like with any other card.

N5s have perhaps the worst reputation of any of the common cards.

Get a DSTT or AceKard2 if you want cheap, CycoDS if you want the best.
