It has to be Age Of Empires II: The Age of Kings for me, it was probably the first PC RTS I played. I thought the first Command and Conquer was good, it had a completely different feel to the other RTS around at the time.
Anyone who doesn't say Total Annihilation is a retard

I'd have to say Warcraft 3, though I really liked Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War, The battles get so epic.
Starcraft (with Brood War) hands down.![]()
original red alert
Age of Mythology
StarCraft
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2
For me it's either the original Age of Empires or one of the C&C games.
Age of Empires was probably the very first RTS I've played and I spent a lot of time on it, also in multiplayer on LAN with family. I think it was 1998 when I first played the demo and it didn't take long for my dad to buy the full version.
I played the Red Alert 2 demo on PlayStation around the same time. About a year ago I bought C&C: The First Decade and a few months later I bought Tiberium Wars, I still need to play through all the pre-Generals games. I just can't decide which C&C game I like better because they're all so great. C&C, particularly Generals (the first full C&C game I've completed), made me appreciate RTS games a lot more than ever, but it hasn't convinced me to dedicate a bunch of time to build up my RTS skills as I do my FPS skills.
I've played the World in Conflict demo, but I just don't see it being better than good ol' C&C.
I seriously lack any strategic skill to rush or defend from rushers, so after a few losses and no wins while playing against random people online I decided to stick to human vs. AI, or more commonly me and a friend vs. AI.
I think if I had to pick one, as hard as it is to pick, I'll say C&C Tiberium Wars because it gave me some of the most epic battles I've experienced in an RTS.
