I thought the game was coming out 29 April. Am I missing something here?
The first adverts are out for GTA IV in the UK, and it looks as if the game will be getting similar treatment games like Assassins Creed and Burnout Paradise saw upon release, with the title only getting advertised for one console - in this case the Xbox 360.
It is likely this 360-only advertising could be part of the huge downloadable content exclusive deal Microsoft spent a lot of money on last year. As you can see the advert also gives mention of that, commenting it will be arriving exclusively on the console in “Autumn 2008”
If this single console advertising continues onto TV we have to wonder will it have an effect on PS3 sales of the game?

It is, but the exclusive dlc for the Xbox 360 will apparently come out some time in Autumn.
Microsoft sees to be trying some crafty tactic in their marketing by wording it such that people may think that GTAIV is exclusive to the 360 and not just the downloadable content.
It'll probably make little difference anyway, as when people finally go to the store, retailers may promote the PS3 GTAIV bundle to them instead...
I don't see the point in only advertising it for one console, even though people know it's for PS3 too.
Not a huge deal, but still pretty pointless.
Its just M$ trying to screw sony out of some game sales
Here in the US there is an advert running but it isn't game specific. I don't see why Rockstar doesn't go the same route with GTAIV in the UK.
i dont think rockstar make the ads, its the game stores
If they do, its the two DLC episodes.
