Default The future is Blu: what lies ahead?

We've celebrated and waved our Blu-ray victory flags for a while now. It's been two whole months since the enemy surrendered and ended the format war. Peaceful days are here -- where Blu-ray can finally be wholeheartedly supported by developers, retailers, and consumers alike. But what now? Will we see the giant growth that drove our format of choice to victor status continue in the future? Keith Hennessey, editor of HD Review magazine, says yes.

Hennessey had an interview with Three Speech where he discusses what the future holds for Blu-ray on the film and television side of things. A lot was discussed; specifically, that innovative features like Blu-wizard (as seen in Resident Evil: Extinction and Black Hawk Down) will continue to grow and improve. Companies like Disney will bring their back-catalogs to Blu-ray, taking advantage of Blu-ray's interactive abilities. Example given: Disney plans for a Sleeping Beauty release that "features a virtual castle to explore and an interactive game currently known as Maleficent's challenge."

Now, how does the ability to "sit down with friends around the world and watch a movie together" sound to you? Or how about "an on-demand trivia quiz for the film you're watching" that might even allow you to use Buzz! controllers? It's all rather interesting, so why not read the whole interview over at Three Speech.
