What exactly do i need?

to play backed up ds roms? right now i believe all i need to do is buy an r4/dstt card, put the roms onto a micro sd, insert this into the r4/dstt card, insert this into the ds and start playing. surely that sounds too easy, do i not have to flash the ds firmware or anything? are the r4/dstt cards compatible with all ds models? help im so confused!
