Supercard Bricked >>HELP!

Hmm so I was testing some homebrew and accidently ran one that I was going to erase and my supercard SD is bricked..If I turn on my DS with the supercard, the top screen goes white, and the bottom screen is normal

But it's bricked.... I can't use it..OMG...Is there any way to unbrick it?? PLEASE HELP ME!

it was bricked with a .nds that I downloaded, but I did not read that it was for like older firmwares, and accidentaly ran it and now can't use the supercard

Was this the firmware modifications made by Chishm and GrizzlyAdams for firmware 1.7 by any chance? Or the skinning tools made for 1.63?

When you say "the top screen goes white" do you mean the entire screen or just the portion that would normally show the names of the files?

You could try a blind recover, in which you copy everything off your card, put a firmware update on it, turn on the DS, and press A even though you can't see the name of the file. If it works, you can use it to update your firmware, thus restoring it.

If that fails, you've got two options, but both require you to be able to launch homebrew files without the Supercard. The most preferable way would be to launch the firmware recovery program from a slot-1 device. Do any of your friends have R4 devices or anything similar?

It was like a firmware for the supercard that used the _BOOTSC_.nds or that thing, but it was for older firmwares...

The top screen is totally white, and no friends have any homebrew device..

But my brother bought a supercard + superkey, like me and will get it tomorrow.

I can't see any file on my supercard, so I think i cant make the blind recovery

Once your brother gets his Supercard, you can possibly use it and the FlashMP program to recover. Basically you'll use the good Supercard to load FlashMP, pak-swap, then write to the bricked Supercard's firmware. This is made difficult by the fact that the DS often resets when inserting a Supercard while the DS is on, but you can sometimes manage it by pushing the right side in first and going really slowly.

I would highly suggest contacting bitblt on the SCDev forums for more information. He offers Supercard unbricking services, but even if you don't wish to send him your Supercard, he would know more about FlashMP than I do.

I'd also search for "flashmp" on the SCdev forums in general, as I know the topic has come up somewhat recently over there and there's a thread that contains a good amount of material by bitblt on it.

So I run flashmp, then remove the good supercard, and put the bricked supercard and then install the firmware? Sounds like it will work, but i dont understand how to do it completely

# Download the latest GBAMP flasher by Chishm or locate DF's flashmp.zip for SC
# Start one of the files in the zip which ever way you can. Use flashme.gba if you are using a flashcart, a multiboot cable or another GBAMP. Use flashme.nds if you are using WMB on a DS.
# While the flasher is still loaded, and the GBA/DS is turned on, pull out the flash cart or good GBAMP and insert the bricked GBAMP
# Hold L+R and press Start to run the repair utility
# Download the latest GBAMP update
# Put the update on the root directory of your CF card and put the CF card in your GBAMP. If Windows asks, allow it to format your CF card
# Run the GBAMP update and press Start when prompted
# Remove the update file and put flashmp.gba on the CF card
# Start the GBAMP with the CF card inserted
# Go to Game, and run flashmp.gba
# This time, hold L+R and press Select to install the NDS hack

Actually I think that's the idea behind FlashMP. From my understanding, rather than a firmware update, you launch FlashMP on your DS somehow (usually through WMB, though I think another working Supercard should be fine), then insert the bricked Supercard and then let it continue in order to restore the firmware.

However, as I have not ever used the program, I'm not entirely sure on the details of it. Also, keep in mind that re-inserting a slot-2 Supercard often causes the DS to immediately reboot. There is a way to get it in without rebooting if you push the right side in first and go REALLY slowly, but I've only managed it a few times. To test, simply boot to the DS menu normally and then try to insert the Supercard. If you're lucky, it won't reboot. If you're not lucky, practice pushing the right side in first to see if it even works for you. I could only get the trick to work on my DS Phat, never my GBA.

FlashMP can be found at http://darkfader.net/ds/files/flashmp.rar though I'd really wait for Bitblt to post as he has much more experience with this program than I.

I'm sorry I've been very busy (lazy) lately. Besides you seem to be doing a very fine job explaining things Dantheman. You are absolutely correct about FlashMP, it can be run using WifiMe/WMB or from a slot 1 card like a DSONE or R4.

FlashMP is very simple to use. However, the FlashMP program is quite old and will restore a slot 2 Supercard to a really old firmware version that requires pressing A+B+X+Y during power up to get to the Supercard menu. Also, FlashMP will only work with standard slot 2 Supercard CF, SD, or miniSD. FlashMP does not work with Supercard lite or rumble cards.

A better and more recent method to restore a slot 2 Supercard has been posted by the Supercard team (although I haven't tried it myself) . . .

1. You should prepare a slot 1 flash memory card, example: DSONE, R4 etc.
2. Insert the bad slot 2 SuperCard into NDS slot 2.
3. Copy the *.nds file to the slot 1 flash card.
4. Open the power, run the *.nds like a normal game from slot 1 flash card.
5. Now, you can fixed the slot 2 Supercard lost firmware.
6. Then, you can upgrade to the newest firmware.
