Probably the backup wasn't made correctly.
Remember that backups will kill your Dreamcast.

Dreamcast backup help
Okay so i have had a dreamcast for many years. I play it from time to time. I am trying to get it to play backups (legit). I own a few games for it, but stuff like soulcaliber play but the music has to be shut off.
Anyway. My dreamcast will boot up a utopia boot disc, and when i got to insert the back up it just hangs up, and wont play. Any suggestions? What other info do you need?

why do they kill the dreamcast?
any place to get a walkthrough for backups?

Sorry but according to the rules, we can't help you how to make backups of Dreamcast commercial games.
