where can i find details on the lua syntax and lua functions

there is a function list at http://www.luaplayer.org/functions.txt but it doesnt actually explain what the functions do.

oh yeah, what is the speed efficiency of lua like? could you make full on hardcore rts games with it or just pong clones?

never mind, theres a really-hard-to-read-yet-comprehensive guide at http://www.lua.org/manual/5.0/

man, that is one ugly UGLY *UGLY* language. its so nasty i just dont know how to describe it except by calling it ugly.

however all of the functions i have seen demonstrated in the tutorials on the psp lua site suggest that they took a lot of the hard bit out of drawing the graphics, so maybe ill tough it out.
