I was scared to mod mine so i sold my psp and got a modded one of ebay(slim and light and 3.90 cfw) and i`m mega happy with it(final fantasy 7 on the go brill).

1 at the mo i am useing a 4meg card can i put a 8meg one in and it will work just the same or do i have to copy any files over from old card.

2 as long as i just play homebrew and psx games i am safe from bricking psp?

3 will i ever need to update cfw if so is it hard?

Yes the 8gb memory stick will work without problems

u cant brick unless u try flashin sumthing and u dont have 2 update if u dont want to but u can and its easy
