Need help getting SNES emulator to work

I've just downgraded my PSP to version 1.5.

I downloaded 'uo_Snes9x for PSP Ver.0.02y32 by y'

I followed the instructions:

Place the {EBOOT.PBP} file in a folder marked {\PSP\GAME\SNES9X}.
Place the rom files wherever you wish.
Zip rom files are supported, but must only contain one file.
Access to SNES ROM images in *.smc, *.sfc, *.fig , format otherwise you will have nothing to run.

I placed my game SEIKEN3.SWC (Secret of Mana 2) into the folder 'I:\PSP\GAME\SNES9X' and renamed it as SEIKEN3.SMC since the emulator doesn't work with .SWC.

When I go to start the emulator, I see the picture and everything fine. I press X and it displays the PSP logo thing. Then it goes black for a while and an error comes up saying

The game could not be strated.
(80020001)

What could be wrong?

Is it because I renamed my game? Is it the wrong name? I read somewhere that it needs to be ROM.FORMAT but not sure. Is it that the emulator doesn't support this game yet?

I've tried renaming the game to ROM.SMC and I still recieve that error.

Can someone help please?

i got the the same message when trying to use that emulator.. just use another emulator and it worked fine for me

i've used many emulators. all the same problem.

i use snes9xtyl

think i downloaded it from here
open it up and you get 2 folders

snes9xtyl
snes9xtyl%

put these into your game folder on mem stick

drag all you roms into the % folder and away you go.

i get all roms from www.freeroms.com and they work a treat -only had a few(mariokart,starfox) that dont work
