Sony have to stop emulation and homebrew as if they dont they will be threatened with court action by the likes of Nintendo.

where d'u hear that from!? have nintendo/sony/sega/atari/apple/spectrum/amiga sued microsoft for allowing people to write their own programs for windows, and some people making emulators???? i think not. emulators arent illegal anyway. else how would people be distributing them so publicly? i mean there is even a windows emulator for linux (mostly directx,) called wine. and that is microsoft we are talking about. if there was even a chance they could sue the developers of wine, they would have done so.

and what about that new handheld coming out with the amazing specs that is pretty much solely designed to play homebrew/emu.

the only thing they dont want is piracy, and as most of us have said, we dont care much for it either. they are shooting themselves in the foot with the forced update thing, caus it might make me concider runing the iso.

Well, not necessarily. Sony wants to stop software piracy. They do that by taking away the ability to develop on the PSP, as opposed to developing a way to protect their investments and allow for the PSP to be open enough to support software development.
Sony might think that they would indeed like to have the ability to allow users to develop on the PSP, but it's more cost effective to tell us "That's not what the PSP was designed for." In their eyes my suggestion would require a lot of $$$ to be invested on their part with ZERO return. They can't tell us "Yeah, that would be cool but.....no." That would piss a lot of people off. They HAVE to adopt the rigid stance against any development.

So it's all about the money and less about what's actually feasible. What my point is, is that it could be a big opportunity for them, but they are too blind/greedy/stupid/whatever to see it. Someone else will though, in the future.

Ok now I'm being really nit picky and fighting back and forth stupidly myself but the key word is MIGHT. We don't actually know what they're thinking or planning or wanting.

I love the old school emus Metal Slug on neogeocd is awesome
and piracy is very bad for the psp as a whole however
i feel the one major thing i would worry about losing in updating is my 333mhz
cpu.
with madden 06 its too big to fit on memory stick which is good i feel but without setting the cpu's clock to 333 gameplay is sluggish at times.
sony will also try to be one step ahead if it takes 2 weeks or two months to crack firmware 2.01 it will only be a matter of days before sony decides to update to 2.02
