The culmination of 21 movies and 11 years of storytelling has arrived: Avengers: Endgame is upon us. The new Marvel movie is now in theaters, and if you're still waiting to see it, you can check out our spoiler-free review to get a sense of whether the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe is successful. If you have, you helped contribute to what is the biggest movie opening in history: Endgame opened worldwide with $1.2 billion, $350 million of which came in the United States--outpacing the previous record holder, Infinity War, by almost a full $100 million.
Those who have already seen the movie and are ready for more are in luck--Chastity and Ryan are here with the full-tilt, spoiler-laden discussion of Endgame you need in the video above.
You've been warned: this video contains major spoilers for Avengers: Endgame!
There's a lot to digest from Endgame's intense three-hour runtime. We talk all the way through the plot and about the movie's big cast of characters, many of whom are seeing the completion of character arcs begun almost 10 years ago. On the written side, we have an explanation of Doctor Strange's plan and who that kid at the end is. We also have a massive collection of Easter eggs and references. As you might expect from a three-hour movie that is effectively wrapping up the MCU so far, there are a ton, including some truly deep cuts you're likely to have missed. Some are far more obscure than that kid at the funeral.
In the video, we're also working through the very best moments, most impactful moment of Endgame, tallying up our favorite Easter eggs, and looking at how Endgame it compares to the rest of the MCU films--both as a movie on its own, and on the conclusion of the Infinity Saga. And finally, we'll take a look at what the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe--Phase 4--looks like now that the final Avengers movie is here. While there may not be any after-credits scenes, the movie does set some things up for subsequent movies, like teaming Thor up with the Guardians of the Galaxy and Falcon getting Captain America's shield.
Elsewhere, we've got a roundup of who is dead after Endgame. While numerous characters are resurrected after the events of Infinity War, not everyone who died in that movie (such as Loki, Heimdall, and Vision) was brought back. Endgame also had its own deaths, further reshaping what's possible in the future of the MCU. Of course, being dead in this timeline isn't stopping certain projects from moving ahead, whether it's the Black Widow movie, Vision's joint show with Scarlet Witch, or Loki's show, the two latter of which are coming as part of Marvel's Disney+ efforts.
