    Default The Most Friendly Console Scene ?

    The PSP scene since the release of Hello World by Nem has been nothing short of outstanding, the amount of visitors this site and forums gets shocks me and the fact that for someone with a V1.0 PSP its so damn easy to get software working for testing and playing its great and the amount of releases means that as a webmaster in newsposting near on 24hours a day (not bad when some sites have 5 people doing the same job ). The scene doesnt seem to be slowing down either but is the scene the easiest to get into?

    Looking at other Console Scenes you can forget about any you need modchips for or flashcarts etc so the next scene is the Dreamcast Emulation and Homebrew Scene which has near on 500 Emulators and Homebrew releases and once past the way of burning the software onto CD is a great scene.

    The next console to think about is the GP32 with sites like GP32Xtreme and GP32 Emulation which have hundreds of software much like the PSP and a fantastic scene to go with it.

    Finally the new kid on the block, the GP2X a console that even before its released officially, has a port of Quake, PC Engine emu and Amiga emu and embraces Emulation and Homebrew(check out our GP2X Sister Site)

    All those 4 consoles are easy to get into but which is the most friendly you decide (comments below)

    i think the PSP is the best, for 2 reasons

    first, USB transfer, which beats out the Dreamcast's CD-Rs.. and i have no clue about the GPs, see next point ^^;

    second, and i think, very important, is that it's a current system, currently in worldwide distribution.. this means ANYONE, regardless if they can't order online or import, can get it.. the Dreamcast needs to be hunted for, the GP's, as far as i know, need to be imported

    Totally the PSP scene, especially since the downgrader came out. It's probably developing one of the biggest scenes at the very least.

    dreamcast can be found for 1/10th the price (except in some places of the world, like australia) and requires no special measures for homebrew (unlike non-1.0 psps). we have a larger library of homebrew and emulators, have had conventions, and have released commercial homebrew as well as the bleemcast. Also the dreamcast is quite possibly the easiest to code for console out there, with expansive libraries and the very stable and ever-improving KOS. C, C++, then things like fenix, lua, sdl, ogl, the dreamcast has them all.

    I would say the only drawback is CDs, but on the flipside, it is easy to have a library of 10 or so CDs that have every emulator you might want to use, and you favorite games for much cheaper than MSs and without the need to load/erase make space for stuff. Also, there isn't a need for updating often (and thus burning new CDs) because the authors wait till they actually have significant changes till they release new versions of emulators.

    psp is the collest and easiest to get into regardless of xbox and dreamcast it doesnt beat nes, snes and genesis games on THE GO Mo****er The gameboy and DS havent touched the psp in terms of applications nintendo sucks now

    I also have told 4-5 people from my school how to do all this $#@! and they cherish me. It's easy to learn this stuff This stuff is cake to me now i even know how to make my own program im just to lazy to do it. . .

    Someone please make a GOOD Calculator i think that would be REALLY useful for a lot of people like a port of a TI for example would be cool. Not even a good one as long as you could do decimals and use Pie on it the first calc release was cool but there wasnt enough buttons maybe i'll make that

    well,dreamcast is a home console,so you can't take it around,even if the scene is good.

    and i had the gp32 for a while,and the speed at wich the psp scene moves beats the gp32 one by far.it took ages for the gp32 to get what the psp had after 2-3 months.

    that said,the gp32 one is a very friendly scene,and quite small too

    The Dreamcast is great for homebrew but PSP have one major advantage over it; it's portable.
