Default Nintendo DS - will not charge

I am asking for my son so excuse me if I mis-state something.

He has 1/2 broke the insert where the power cord plugs into. As you look into the hole the right side is ok. On the left you can see 3 gold prongs. When he tries to charge the DS the power light blinks but will not stay lit as if it where charging.

He can still play games but the battery is almost dead. I tried putting his battery in another machine but it will not charge that way either...

    help!

ok so I tried switching the batteries again and I got them to both charge in the good machine. From what I have read I think this might be a blown fuse issue caused by the prongs touching....

or the prongs could be bent, i had the same problem about 2 months ago, i just adjusted the charger then after awhile it worked again...

    hope you fix it!
