No problems here, on my US 80GB. Downloaded last night, and played Burnout for a few hours.
Sony has pulled the 2.40 firmware update from both its in-console update and website after some users reported that the firmware has bricked their system. SCEA PR director Patrick Seybold told Joystiq that Sony is "looking into it right now and will work with those customers directly to address any issues they may be experiencing." Has it bricked your system? Let us know in the comments below.

Steam - Rjinswand
Runescape - Rjinswand
The word 'bricked' is getting thrown around a lot. The fact is the update doesn't brick peoples PS3s, rather it's more like a bug in the firmware.
Bricks and Bugs are somewhat hand-in-hand. a bug in sony's code Messed up some part in your System and Bricked it (meaning the System Cant do crap like boot, play games, boot, (did i mention boot!))
However, Mine's Fine, Downloaded yesterday, I Have the MGS4 80GB NTSC (USA) Bundle pack.
mine and a friends are fine both uk models 40gb and a 60gb
