Japanesse Hardware Sales: June 30th - July 6th, 2008

The console sales figures for Japan during the week between June 30th and July 6th are in as follows:


Playstation Portable: 56,439
Nintendo DS Lite: 47,455
Nintendo Wii: 44,525
Playstation 3: 14,359
Playstation 2: 11,768
Xbox 360: 4,776

PSP is down roughly 2,400, still tops the list. DS Lite is 2nd, down 1,400. Next comes the Wii, taking a 3,900 drop. PS3 is 4th, down 3,600. 5th place is the PS2, up by 4,000. Last and 6th is the Xbox 360, down 327.

And to think, our beloved PSP was the underdog a scant 3 years ago. Now it is topping th sales charts and blowing everyone away. Long live the PSP and may it still be relevant even 5 years from now! Fantastic!

xbox has picked up on sales in the last few weeks, normally it gets 1500-2000 units a week. Its not going to give the ps3
(or even the ps2) any trouble, but the fact the sales are increasing is good news for MS.
