If your stick is fake then yes.
Is it true that constant or repeated writing to the Memory Stick can make it not work or become corrupted? I fear for those (including me) who write backups (NOT PIRATES!) of their UMD games or convert big movie files (TV episodes, DVD rips, etc.)
You don't need to know my mental status. You probably don't want to, either.

it can shorten the life of the memstick, but its only from constant read/write calls, general emulator and the such dont shorten the life of the memstick more than loading a savedgame does
Its true, flash memory is a little like CD-RW's in that repeated changing of the a bit from 0->1 and 1->0 will wear that bit out. Thing is tho, each bit will work for at least 10000 cycles, the memory stick has logic in it to make wear reasonably even across the bits. Remember a 128Mb memory stick has over 1billion bits in it.Originally Posted by IndianCheese
End result, don't worry about it, time your memory stick would wear out you'll be on a PSP3 with 128Gb flash cards if they use them at all.
every file storage can get corrupted even ur HDD or ur CD/DVDs
