GT5 could be as late as 2010

Sony's main GT man, Kazunori Yamauchi, has come out and crushed any hopes we had of playing a full version of Gran Turismo 5 any time soon.

We've been waiting for it for ages and our pain was eased a little with the launch of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. But Sony and Polyphony Digital are taking things a little to far now.

In an E3 interview with IGN (missed due to all the noise), Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi said, "There's no plans in the works for GT5 yet - that might be 2009, or it might be 2010... But we're totally focused on getting the updates through for Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, and that's all we're focused on."

So it's not even on his radar yet. Quite an astonishing admission if you ask us.

They would rather be "totally focused" on updating the GT5 Prologue 'demo'?

Stick with GRID people! I don't know how well it plays on PS3 but this is THE best racing game out!

Shame as this is one title that would have actually interested me with the PS3. If this aint out till 2010 then thats another nail in the coffin.

I hate to see Sony do this.
I seem to be keeping my PS3 only on the basis of promises that are broken continuously. Please Sony, pull it together?

I don't like racing games so I don't care about this but why would this surprise anyone, this always happens with gran turismo games anyone remember gran turismo portable?

Every GT game since GT2 has been delayed, the game will show up when it is done.

Hm...well thats off my list for now then. I'm gonna be getting a PS3 real soon, but this may not be on my list anymore.

I think if GT5 came out today and it wasn't better than expectations or at least "better" than Grid, then we'd be either heartbroken or pissed-off since we waited so long (not to mention it's a PS3 exclusive). Waiting so long will burn, but in the light of Grid, it's possible that this is best off for the game right now.
