Check under your Dreamcast. If there's a number 1, you can run homebrew; if there's a number 2, you can't.
I am getting a Dreamcast tomorrow. It turns out the DC was manufactured in Dec 2000. This DC is NTSC-U.
This worries me as I heard there are some DC's manufactured during then and beyond will not play burned DC games due to the lack of Mil-CD. Is there anyway around this? I bought this on ebay so i might have a hard time returning it. Please help thanks.

It says 2......
i read this tutorial. http://dreamlover.tecbox.com/#6.1
is this wrong??? Is there absolutely NO way to run burned games???
This is the only reason i got it
edit:
my friend has a DC made in Oct 2000 and it says 2 and he can play burned games fine.... weird......

Well try it out. If it doesn't work get a new one or trade it with someone who doesn't care of Back-Up/Homebrew.
update everyone:
i brought over my DC to my friends house and it play's burned games fine
something i noticed though:
I looked at a picture at a DC that wasn't compatible found here:

If you notice the newer one says Sega Corperation.
Mine says Sega Enterprises, Ltd. Maybe that can be an indication if it supports Mil-CD or not.
