I was just looking for an official stamina battery a while back, even the sony store (bricks n mortar) didn't have any official PSP batteries.

Phoned sony Australia and even they did not have stamina ones, but I could order standard 1800mA ones through them.
I think I saw one of these packs (with the face plate for slim psps) in a store just after their release, but it was really overpriced.
It is my understanding that the average life span of a Lithium Ion battery is about 3 years from the date of manufacture. If this is true you should start seeing launch psp battery dieing some time this year or early next year. Just for comparison I get about 5+ hours with screen brightness set to max, volume maxed and using the umd. Not sure how much newer my battery is though.

The stamina battery was discontinued and replaced by this pack.

Its not an instantaneous drop off in capacity at some point (dying), they just slowly hold less and less.

It will more than likely still provide 2+ hours of gaming in another couple of years.
I would have liked to be able to buy just the stamina battery for my fat psp around now....

It's from the date of manufacture not when you start using it, so beware old stock of mobile phone/psp/whatever batteries.
They should really be made to display the manufacture date of the cell(s) clearly.

Damn, I wanted to actually buy one of these once my PSP's original battery started to wear out.

NOOOOOOOOO! These work awesome in the slim. Although these are only best suited for those with either a Black or Silver Slim. The larger battery covers don't come in other colors. Besides, who wants to replace Kratos on that blood red God of War PSP?

If they are ceasing production of this, they best be developing a Slim sized battery that has extra capacity. I think I'll grab a couple more of these before they can no longer be found.

If anything, expect to see high-capacity slim batteries with some sort of filler-thing for PSP-1000.
