Looks like Sega of America president Simon Jeffery was wrong, as Sega has today issued a statement confirming that legendary developer and Shenmue creator Yu Suzuki does in fact still work for Sega.

It turns out that the comment made by Jeffery, saying that Suzuki was "not an employee" of Sega was inaccurate.

"I can safely say that Yu Suzuki is in fact still a Sega employee," Jeffery has told Gamasutra in a corrective statement, confirming that Suzuki is currently the Creative Officer of Sega Corp.

But having not been in the limelight for so long, it's no wonder people - even Sega Presidents - are forgetting where he works.
