Chickey Chick is a great game funny and entertaining. Manage a sympathetic chick by the different levels of the game. The goal: cleaning up the level of enemies using eggs as a weapon. This Homebrew is scheduled in LUA, and participates in the Beta Scenery 2008 with exclusive content for the contest, as a level editor. 100% recommended, entertaining until the last corner of the game.

Chickey Chick is a platform game in which we must move forward by the various levels. We will have to climb stairs and others to get the eggs that appear randomly. Once an egg lame, we can launch against one of the multiple enemies, but beware! Picks up the eggs before they hatch, or you'll see a dragon that spits fire in the mouth!
We may also jump on enemies to let them "stunning" for a few seconds. By eliminating an enemy, which receives a regalito redeemed for points. By jumping on the enemy, receive 10 dots. Finally, when we've cleared the level of enemies, will open the door and fly towards her to go to the next level. If you open the door to the screen were eggs, these will become golden eggs, give you hurry and catch before flying toward the door!
Description: The author mentions that this clearly inspired by the game New Zealand Story, which appeared in 1988 the company Taito.
Controls:
Pad Digital / Analog: Moving around the screen.
Pad Digital / Analog Up / Down: Upload / Download stairs.
X: Jump.
O: Open egg (previously caught).
I have been pleasantly surprised by the details so designed, and which includes background music.

As coder of the game I feel obligated to add some details about the game.
First of all, I'm sorry about the bad english in the original post, but that part has been coppied and translated from www.scenebeta.com which is a spanish site.
The game itself is english so don't let that keep you from dowloading it.
Adding to that, the description of the game is an altered version of the description that was given to the alpha version. Making it a bit incomplete... but let that be a reason for you to download it and check it out yourself. Included in the archive is a readme file which includes more detail and FAQ.
As for screenshots I'll post a few so you'll have a good idea what to expect.
PS: This release includes a level editor.

Looks awesome
Great work, I am going to try this right now![]()
Thanks, I hope you'll enjoy it... that counts for everyone who wishes to play the game.
If for any reason you want to give me your 2 cents then just post it here, I'll be watching the forum to see if someone has something to say.
take care
DrWho198
I'll download it and check it out.
I love the art as well.
Edit: Wow, I must say, great work.
This is the kind of professional quality homebrew I strive to make but never have the creativity to.
Maybe I'll play more retro games to help me brainstorm.
The only thing that I would say it needs is an instructions and controls menu.
(I couldn't figure out how to get through the door)
The only obvious bug I found was that when exiting the level editor you're brought to the xmb.
Exelent work man.

Yeah, I have been thinking of adding some kind of guide inside the game. For now you could check out the readme inside the archive, which would explain how to play the game...
hmm, maybe I forgot to add the controls... sorry about that :P
it is ,ot really a bug, but a limitation.
You see I just added the leveleditor right before the release. I myself don't run it from within the game.
After adding it I noticed that I had memory problems when exiting the editor. Because I had too little time to fix this I desided it was best just to exit to xmb.
I know I should warn people about this before they enter the editor... huh... another sorry is in place here ^^"
to all: If someone manages to play through the game, let me know how long it took for you to do so, that way I know how hard it is

Oh! I didn't realize that you had to knock out everyone before you could open the door.
Ha whoops.
I'm definitely enjoying you game a lot.
As for the memory problem have you tried setting everything loaded in the editor to nil and clearing them from the memory using:
Code:collectgarbage()

I know about the collectgarbage() function, but thnx for asking.
The problem is a bit more complicated to solve though, but not impossible at all.
The editor is actualy a program on its own.
When you select editor from within the game, a lot of stuff is loaded that wasn't loaded before. I could unload all that stuff when exiting, but as I said before... there wasn't enough time to fix it.
which is a bit stupid since I guess I could fix it in a few hours, maybe less. I just have to check out both programs, the game itself and the editor. Then see what needs to be unloaded and write the code to do so.
I'll put it on my to do list :P allong with cleaning up the code and removing spelling errors ^^"
Looks very nice and professional, downloading now
